It's for me - almost - impossible to set my own ringtones on my OnePlus 7 Pro.

    Tried:
Ringtones (mp3 of m4a) in folder Ringtones
Ringtones (mp3 of m4a) in folder Audio
Ringtones (mp3 of m4a) in folder "whatever"

All of these are not visible in the Ringtone area.

    Succes:
Ringtone send to me in a WhatsApp message(?!).
    No succes:
My own ringtones in the same folder.

This was no problem at all (with the same ringtones) on my LG G6.

    Someone?

Did you move them from the Download folder to the Ringtone folder?

I placed, moved and copied them from every folder to every folder. ;)

They won't show up in whatever folder I place them.

This may sound stupid, but did you check the "Ringtone from internal storage" ?

That reminds me of an issue I encountered a long time ago then with a Motorola KRZR. What is the bitrate of those files and what was used to encode them? 192kbps or higher can be hit and miss depending on the devices audio capabilities and what encoders it supports. My ringtones I am using on the OnePlus 7 Pro though, are 192kbps, encoded with LAME, and cut to be about 15 to 30 seconds in length.

It's working when I get one send to me via WhatsApp.
So maybe whatsApp encodes it to a lower bitrate(?)

Oké, it's definitely the bitrate of the files.
Low-bitrate MP3's are working. But my lossless m4a files (or wav) not.

My LG6 was not as picky as my OP7 Pro I think.
