Ever since the OnePlus 7 Pro was launched, it was surrounded by lots of controversies with regards to its camera performance. Despite the company claiming extremely high scores from DxOMark, the camera performance didn't seem to justify the scores to the critics. Later, OnePlus cleared out the controversy by rolling out the firmware that DxOMark used in its tests and that made a massive difference to performance.

However, the OnePlus 7 Pro's camera is still quite restricted when compared to what other flagships in its price range can do. OnePlus also agrees and is working to make it more versatile than it is. The company confirmed in an interview to GSMArena that it is working to brings some improvements that the consumers have demanded through feedback.

The first one involves the Nightscape mode that has been there since the days of OnePlus 6T. The Nightscape mode got a substantial upgrade with the OnePlus 7 Pro and while it is not as good as Pixel's Night Sight mode, it surely does an impressive job in the dark. Sadly, this mode is currently restricted to the primary camera mode and if you are using the ultra-wide mode or zoom mode, you can't get the Nightscape mode's benefits.

OnePlus is now working to bring the Nightscape mode on the two other camera modes. With an update in the future, the Nightscape mode will be available on the 3x zoom mode and the ultra-wide camera mode. This should make it good for those who do a lot of night photography and need the assistance of the smart algorithms to get the desired shot. There are possibilities that the Nightscape mode may not yield similar results as in the main camera mode because of the inferior sensors on the other two cameras.

Nightscape isn't the only feature coming to the other two cameras. OnePlus is also adding the ability to record video in these modes as well. The quality might again differ but enhances the versatility of the triple camera setup on the OnePlus 7 Pro.

Given all these planned upgrades, it seems that OnePlus is looking setup up the game in the camera department. The OnePlus 7 Pro after its updates offers a very dependable camera experience and it would only wise to improve the experience further to challenge the rivals from Samsung and Apple.

Hello everyone as you know yesterday the OnePlus' Image Product Manager confirmed that there will be more camera updates.

The reason for not having those updates is simply the lack of resources including only 80 people working on the camera (OnePlus is currently hiring more people).

    Here is a brief summary:

    1. Improved Nightscape mode in future
    2. RAW image at 12 MP is better than that at 48 MP now
    3. Video recording using all the 3 cameras in the future
