OnePlus 7 Pro with HDMI Support?

I don't think that OnePlus is developing its own desktop mode. Google started already this project with Android Q, that is coming in the next months. The Android Q DP is already available for the OnePlus 7 series, so it's possible to test it out.

Maybe OnePlus is optimizing the desktop from Google, when it's available.

OP is also teasing it's own TV, so who knows what their grand plan is.

I'm encountering the same issue and did some investigation on it. You guys think it might be related to the screen recorder function on the Oneplus 7 (Pro)? I read that having installed some kind of screen recorder apps might cause this issue (on other phones).
I tried stopping the app and unauthorize it, but it didn't help. Any ideas?

I think it's a software or security issue that OnePlus could fix.

I have Galaxy Tab S4 (and OP6), which supports HDMI too. With Android 8.1 on the Tab S4 Netflix worked fine on Samsung Dex with an external monitor. Then the Android 9 One UI update came. Then the Netflix stopped showing the content. The sound still worked and the UI was still showing like on the OP7 series.
Now I got a new update from Samsung and Netflix is now working again.

I have also an Screen Recorder installed on the Tab S4.

I don't think it would have anything to do with hdcp or widevine. I believe you're right, though. It's probably an issue of incorporating certain security protocols into the Oxygen OS to allow protected content to steam over hdmi.

I find it curious OP didn't have this ready prior to release, or at least with the first update.

That said, OP is high on my list of phone manufacturers I trust to do right by their customers.

Does OnePlus 7 also support video output? Or it's an function just for the pro version?

It's an OnePlus 7 series function. The normal OnePlus 7 support it too.

@Manu J. Could we please get some feedback directly from Oneplus? As far as I see we only have a user's info (thanks for sharing!) that a customer service person says they are on it.
We are on holidays right now and would love to watch the new Stranger Things season on the hotel TV before bed but cannot because of this issue. It would be nice to have some official info that you are actually working on this. The hdmi feature is pretty useless as long as premium video content doesn't work.
@ community please upvote this thread so we get some attention in this topic, thanks!

I got strange side effect by connecting to HDMI, the GPS stops working
it just stops receiving info from satellites, one by one till all are gone
I need GPS as it's for in car use for navigation (waze) and my display is car pioneer appradio 7"
if I disconnect from hdmi adapter than GPS is back to normal under 10ft with many satellites

    what I'm missing?
any options I need to set in OP7Pro to keep getting GPS?

    tnx

Do you have GPS when your phone is on the exact same position but without HDMI connected? Maybe your car blocks GPS on the phone's position.

Hi new to Oneplus , just got 7 pro, changed from samsung S9+ where connecting to tv was flawless particularly Netflix etc, so far very underwhelmed by no picture , audio only through Netflix , and Prime won't run either. This can't be a rights issue or it wouldn't work on Samsung. I was relying on downloading movies and shows for Holidays , but this appears to be a non starter now.
I noticed this issue is around since launch but no sign of a resolution. Does anybody know when Oneplus are going to fix this , or indeed if anyone from Oneplus is reading or contributing
to this forum , is there any sign of an update for this.
    Cheers

Is a very frustrating problem, and one that doesn't appear to be high on OP list of things to resolve. The phone is amazing in all other regards, but this one issue puts it into a lower category, in my opinion.

Yeah I agree , very frustrating ,this is a great opportunity for OnePlus to gain ground on Huawei etc with their "problems", .
I just don't see why OnePlus don't just sort it , when the 2 biggest phone companies in the world , Samsung and Huawei both have it running like a dream. I travel a lot, and I have to say it is a massive let down to me if it is not resolved.
Out of curiosity , does anyone from OnePlus actually read these forums

It's not true. I have Galaxy Tab S4 and Netflix is not working flawlessly on DeX or with screen mirroring. It worked but now it don't.
It's Samsung's flagship phone, so the priority is a bit lower.

You should create a feedback. Then the OnePlus staff reads it.

Yeah , thanks for link, will contact OnePlus, don't know about S4 , but I've just changed from S9+, and it was flawless, only changed because that " Bixby" was annoying as hell.
    Cheers
