I'm having this problem on my 7 Pro where whenever I watch something on YouTube or Netflix and let's say the characters are in a low lit environment I get these black pixels that are very annoying. Is this a Software or hardware problem? Or what is this problem called because I've called OnePlus and have tried to explain but when I explain it they don't seem to get what the problem is. And does anyone have this problem also?

As you can see from this screenshot from YouTube they are in a pretty dark environment and there are black pixels showing up.

Here are some other ones if you notice those grey pixels.

Let me describe it to you. Ok let's say you watch a scary video on Netflix or YouTube. And the actors or characters are in a dark or dim room or environment the 7 Pro will weirdly show Grey pixels or black pixels in the video. It's bad and pretty annoying to the point where I pretty much stopped watching Stranger things or any video where people are filming in dark places. But this doesn't happen when the video or movie shows the actors or characters in a very well lit environment. For example if I watch an Marques Brownlee video I have no problems and it looks perfect and beautiful as it should be. This only happens when a video is taking place where a character is in a dark room or a not very well lit environment. I compared it to my OnePlus 6 and my 6 doesn't have that issue so that pretty much eliminates it as being a software issue. it might be a hardware problem any thoughts?

I haven't seen this on mine. If you can find a public you tube video and point to a time slot where it happens, I am sure many would check to see if it affects them.

BTW it could still be software. or it could be configuration. you could test in safe mode to rule out 3rd party apps.

if no one can duplicate and you try a reset and test before restoring any apps, then it is hardware.

if others duplicate, it could still be either hardware or software

What if it's just my phone...how would I fix it? Cause I do have the 6 month protection plan but that only works if the screen is shattered I don't think OnePlus would do anything to help with this problem.

Why don't you determine what the problem is first? Your phone has a 1 year warranty. If it only affects your phone, they should replace it. If it affects all phones, then we all have to wait for a fix.

But there is nothing to support any conclusion yet. Maybe it is your phone, but it is because of some environment conditions like network - yes i know another phone works fine.

My point is, determine what the problem is first, then worry about how to fix it. So far, no one can see what you are talking about or even try to duplicate it.

hold power button to see power off menu. tap and hold the words power off and a new option appears to reboot into safe mode. this stops all 3rd apps from running until you reboot again. so you have to test with built in apps like YouTube.
