I have the same issue, unable to lock in on the signal, have to stop and restart the phone and that gets the GPS going again, will be returning the phone as GPS is essential to how I use it.

Hello everyone. I too am experiencing this issue. GPS only works on 4g LTE and lower. On 5G it disconnects on both Waze and Google.

    *Update*
Spoke with OnePlus Technical support and this is what they said, "This is not the device issue, please check with your network operator if there might be some settings or changes needs to be done to work fine."

I did some research and spoke to one plus support and it seems that this is an issue across T-Mobiles 5G network I think the Samsung 5G phone has the same issue. they say they are working on an update that will be pushed out soon but they wouldn't give me any more info. I will let you guys know if I hear any more about this.

I chose 2G/3G/LTE without 5G and I still have GPS issues, it takes a long time to lock, hope for a fix soon or it goes back on Sunday.

I have the same issue. After wasting time with T-Mobile and oneplus support, I will be returning the phone.

I already returned mine yesterday. Not interested in dealing with it especially after paying $900 for the device. A $900 phone then I have a $900 expectation. LOL. RIP 7T Pro.

I did that and it worked for just a few minutes. Moments later I got the 'No signal' notification.

Exactly. Improved, but not perfect, not even close to perfect, WAZE not good at all.

I did some testing of my own. Both my work phone (Samsung J5) and my McLaren 7T Pro run on the O2 network. Yesterday I drove to an office and travelled back (thanks to loads of traffic). The J5 was rock solid with GPS recording my route pretty accurately but the 7T Pro - well, see the screenshot for yourselves. It clearly points to a problem with the OnePlus software/hardware set-up.

so far in my testing GPS works much better when 5G is disabled but it's still not perfect. however when the SIM card is out of the phone and you were just using Wi-Fi the GPS is just as good as any other phone. so this definitely has to do with mobile network connectivity. does anybody here know any way that I can force my phone not to use mobile networks for location?

Where is the fix for the tmobile 5g mclaren gps issue? It's ridiculous to put your customers in this position.

If you expect me to be a beta tester then I'll take a free phone with bugs. If you want me to pay $900 then I should get a working phone.

Bump. Same issue. GPS works great at boot, but after a while it starts losing connectivity and eventually stops working entirely until the next reboot. It's got to be a software issue, even when it fails, I can see green bars from several satellites but it just stops receiving data, like the internal GPS service just decided to stop communicating to the OS. OnePlus really needs to fix this, I expect close to perfection on a flagship phone with a flagship price. Starting to make me regret switching from Samsung.

Add another with T-Mobile. Man what a disappointment for an overall solid phone. Looks like 5G is a bit more complicated then the carriers planned. Who would have thought? Just get the phones out there and troubleshoot later [e]1f601[/e]

Almost 20 days from the original post with no updates from oneplus. I'm 100 % returning this phone.

If any new customers read this then I suggest you go with a more reputable company. I'll gladly pay $200 more for a Samsung when they stand behind their products.

I will also suggest staying away from t-mobile as they are also no help.

Both companies think a factory reset is going fix the GPS issue. How much time and energy should the customer waste when there is nothing we can do to fix it.

Update: submitted a ticket with support, they want me to factory reset as well. I'll try it just to prove it's either the hardware or the OS, not any other software or settings, and post another update with the results. Also sent them a gpx trip log and screenshot showing when and where the gps just decides to stop working. I would have much preferred support responded with "we are aware of the issue, and engineering is working on a patch to fix it" or "we are aware several phones of this model are having this issue, if the above steps don't solve it, you can open an RMA and request a replacement by...", anything to indicate they will actually do something to solve this instead of "jUsT wIpE YoUr PhOnE".

Interesting. I contacted T-Mobile via app and the rep researched and got back to me with a response that indicated they are aware of the problem and an update is expected around the 2nd week of January.

Ah, I submitted a ticket with OnePlus, not T-Mobile. Still, you'd think their support would be aware of the issue and any patches in the works.

I was able to do a three way call with tmo and OnePlus and was told they were aware of the issue and are working on it. this means nothing until it happens but at least I got an acknowledgement

Same here. Really disappointed with this phone. Thinking about returning it. Did they not test this phone at all? I'm sincerely trying to understand how this didn't come up before the phone was sold to us.
