Why does the oneplus 7t consume so much system storage, 27gb.

my oneplus 5t fully up to date only uses 5.8gb of system storage.

    that’s a huge difference ?

so I have less free space that my previous 5t which has the same total capacity (128gb)

Can someone confirm on their new 7t they have a similar used system storage please.

    seems excessive to me.

    Note!
7T (non-Pro) 8/256GB is not available for us in Europe.
Having 28Gigs only for the defalt ROM is NOT good!

I can remember the days when Windows installation files fit in about 10 1.44MB disquettes, and MS-DOS + Windows ran perfectly on a 5MB HDD, leaving plenty of space for other programs and data.
Now, a 32GB HDD is barely enough.

    This is called evolution.

But I'm pretty sure there are a lot of other files than pure system on your storage, like temporary files, cache, etc.

ok thanks for confirming guys, that's such a shame really, if they sold a 256gb version i would have got one, but for us we only have one storage option.

    Stupid :-(

Just out of curiosity. This 27GB of system data was there when the phone was just out of box or after you set it up?

Tbh I was more into amiga's far superior to any 286 or 386 which was the norm at the time... Not forgetting those old SCSI drives the size of two shoes boxes on top of each other...

After i set it up, i did not check it at first, i done the small update to 10.0.3 and was getting all the updates and then they just stopped and was stuck at installing and download pending, i could not resolve by clearing the cache and data etc. so i carried out a factory reset and that cured the update issue. then set it all up and noticed it.

Could be that the installation files are still on the phone?

Even MS-DOS 5.5 (and maybe 6) fitted on only one disquette.
MS-DOS 3.3 required one double sided 5.25" 720kb disquette, and there was some space left.

That does absolutely nothing on A/B partition devices.
Anyways, you can try flashing the full rom once again. It will shift the active slot. Just give it a try.
