The camera software of the OnePlus 8 is constantly destroying photos by manipulating them.

How the hell can i switch that shit off ????

    i have already...
    * disabled this stupit HDR (seems to make multiple photos that are stitched together very badly)
    * disabled the scene recognition (not smart as it seems at all)

GCAM does not work properly. Only the main camera is supported ...
Filters: NONE! everything I could possibly find is switched off. I actually do not mind if the photos are a bit noisy (if you know what I mea) but manipulating the phoro in that way is just UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Yeah,i get what you mean,i had the OP8 too for a while and my pictures where nowhere near as bad as yours.but i had a gcam installed that worked with both main and 2x zoom, but not the macro lens.i transferred it to my 8 pro along with all the rest, and it still works now.

This is how my experience with Oneplus started. Shortly after I got the phone I made some photos. Three of them from a double rainbow with my family.

I zoomed in and only cut out the worst part. Thy to imagine how the rest looks like ...

It was awfully. I even got the phone replaced. But of course it it NOT SOLVE the software issue. I have to say the amount of defaced photos is slightly less but still - that is horrible!!!

If they just would make a stupid switch to turn this crappy functionality off.

One suggested "solution" was to only use Pro mode with RAW (dng) format. That means as well that you lose nearly all features.
    * Only 12mp photos (48mp is not possible)
    * Only the main camera (no wider or zoom lense)
    * Even the photo preview of the dng is defaced
    * Needs extra software to convert it if it should be viewable on the phone
    * Dng photo files are not per Default backed up.

The backup concept of Android is a huge pile of shit and a topic for a different discussion. (lost nearly everything when OnePlus replaced my phone)

    I really REGRET buying a OnePlus 8 !!!

Word, that's horrible indeed!!no other way to say it.i included a photo of my kid taken with the 2x zoom on the standard OP8 at the time, and i'm no expert,i just point and shoot, but i'd say it's better than what you got.

Many of my photos turn out OK. I would say 70% or so. But then you have those horrible ones that you just cannot capture again.

I made a few photos from those dear's some are rally good.

Some are really really bad(see above) and then there are those in between ... The arguably ... Acceptable?

Still smeared fur but not as bad as you can see.

It really seems as if the algorithm has issues with details like beart, fur, ... Well hair of any kind.

Yeah, defenitely agree with the hair part,i took al lot of pictures of my cat,who sometimes wasn't even moving and most of them weren't useable.i would have thought they made it better with the latest updates but i guess not.it's not much help,i know, but i guess all you can do is file a feedback report and hope they'll improve it with future updates.

Use the community app: go to the lower right space "my Profile", choose my Feedback and send a report. I d recommend to upload the pictures to gdrive, change rights in gdrive to "viewer" and share the link in your Bug decription. If you still don t know, how to do this, Tag me here and i ll post a Video how to send a proper bugreport with pictures added etc. 😀👍

Those are insane. How shitty does the AI need to be? [e]1f602[/e]

Did you try Open Camera as workaround until OP fixes this? (fingers crossed, lol)

No i try to stay away from Advertisement packed apps!!

I gave GCam another try and it seems in the last 6 to 8 month's it made a leap forward. It seems it supports all 3 camera lenses.

Had not yet much time to test it but I will try to provide comparison photos when I get to it.
