    Hi all,

Is there any updates on why the front camera for OP8P is so bad in lowlight, and when it might be fixed?

The customer support is at best questionable for OP8P.. every John Smith and Jane Doe (it's a shame they use Western civilization aliases) from customer support seems to doubt the opinion that the front camera is bad for this phone.

I got my phone a few weeks ago, and the front camera is fine in lit up situations, but it's so so bad in lower light conditions (blurry, very flat looking, no sharpness). It's an issue I've seen other people report, but it's like some big secret OP don't admit to.
I decided to submit a replacement request, incase my hardware was at fault (because after a factory reset, it didn't improve).

I even had a technician tell me it could be a 1/1000 case, yet still after I got the phone replaced - with NO REPORT back - I immediately can see that the front camera on the replacement is just as bad. So unlucky! Lightning never strikes twice!

I've attached 2 sets of photos, both are taken on my OP5T and OP8P respectively, in progressively later parts of the day.

I'm using the default settings on both. Flash was turned off for a fair test.

    Anyway. Whatever.
I just wanted to know if anyone else knew of why this was the case. I'm still within my returns rights, so while that period of time is still valid, I want to know what my chances of this actually being fixed by an OTA update actually are.

I'm not going to be submitting any more feedback forms.

A lot of the camera quality issues is also the apps fault, the OEM can't take the full blame about bad quality... Like look how snapchat and instagram pics/videos looks taken on a oneplus phone compared to an iPhone. It's night and day

In low light even on insta and Snapchat the camera is too blurry as compared to any other phone.. I compared it with my oneplus 5t
So that means there's some fault with the stock software only

Or, the apps are better optimized to 5t because it's a much older phone... Those companies can't optimize their app to work 100% with all Android devices as there are so many... They give priority to the most sold deivces like samsung s20 line and Googles pixel line.

The best thing you can do is to report issue to the app developer and hope for the best...

No, but with instagram/whatsapp/snapchat it's a known thing... Other apps I can't comment.

Hardware on the phone should be good enough to take great pics, it goot good DXO rating.

I'm not talking about hardware maybe there's some software implementation issue... Hopefully oneplus will fix it soon

Same camera specs between OP8P and 5T so I hope it is software related.
The stock camera app is all I've considered for my comparison..

I just don't want to wait for an OTA which may or may not be the solution to this issue, when it's been a problem I can trace back for months now in forum threads.. it's a real shame, OP5T was the best Android I've owned lol

Its not the apps optimization issue this time while , we dont ask for post processing of images , but the preview in the stock app itself is absolutely blurred out , issues with white balance and focus
