OnePlus 8 pro unlocked US carrier issues

  1. questionmark14 , via OnePlus 8 Pro , Apr 29, 2020 :

The 8 pro is not available from Verizon and will not be compatible with Verizons 5g sadly. There's a thread under OnePlus 8 support about how to activate your 8 pro on Verizons network and still get calls, texts, and data. only piece missing is the wifi calling

As far as AT&T is concerned, they've done everything they can on their end to enable wifi calling. I even tried the OnePlus logkit trick to force the wifi calling toggle to show up, enabled it, and still the VoLTE icon is all I see. Alas. looks like OnePlus will have to update the OS to recognize AT&T as wifi calling compatible.

Bought the wife the 8 Pro for use on Verizon. She had the 7 Pro prior, swapped it on the account and popped in the old SIM. Verizon website recognized it as there 8Pro so everything's working (forgot to verify if wifi calling is working though)

It would seem that Verizons databases are finally updated with the 8 pro IMEI numbers. I sincerely doubt that wifi calling is functional sadly as when I had my 7 pro on Verizon they were unable to make it work.

Are you having any issues with receiving phone calls on yours? Ever since I got this phone, after a while, I can't get phone calls. It goes to a busy signal. If I make an outgoing call, it works every time, then incoming calls will work. If I don't get or make a call for a while, I'll get a busy signal again. Super annoying. I can't have a phone that I can't get phone calls on. I mean, it is called a phone, right?

Have you had any issues with Visible? I'm confused about how it works with Visible, but not Xfinity. I just ordered the 8 Pro and currently have Xfinity. OnePlus told me it will work, but Xfinity told me it won't. I really don't want to switch carriers but if I need to, I may.

No issues with Visible other than the lack of wifi calling which is pretty universal outside of tmobile sadly. Reception and data work just fine. Xfinity never ended up working with the 7 pro so I'm not holding my breath. I'll try my imei on their website again but I'm guessing it will not work still.

Yea so I have the same issue with the oneplus 8T, no carrier will let me activate in the US. Sprint and Tmobile both push me back to oneplus, oneplus says its your carrier, tell them to activate it. Oneplus is dropping the ball in terms of partnering with carriers, and not providing the devices for whitelisting. Its unfortunate, but this might be last phone from them. I bought 2 and I got stuck, then get fairly rude customer service from them when I was just asking the questions and presenting my case. So, I really dont think OP is doing right by the customers, their processes seem broken.

This is why I prefer MVNOs rather than dealing with the carriers themselves, they always try to blackball you with BS about exclusivity and "whitelisting". Sprint is now T-Mo and if you have a T-Mo MVNO in your area go for either Metro or Mint (if in the US).

I was getting ready to purchase an 8 Pro until I read this thread: has anyone resolved this activation issue at ATT?

Activation has never been an issue with me, but the 8 Pro (pretty much guaranteed) will never have 5G with AT&T.
    Our T-Mobile SIM gets 5G

Am I to understand that the 8 Pro will not work on Verizon AT ALL? Or is the incompatibility strictly in regards to 5G?

    Thanks in advance

Works fine with Verizon, just no 5G. May or may not have to call and have them enable CDMA-LESS on your line.

Visible is a great alternative $40/mo unlimited data on Verizon's network. Still waiting for them to whitelist the 8 pro for wifi calling though.
