Voted, and yes it's required. None of the users asked it make it a software filter, for that we have enough apps. If colour filter as a camera is presented then it's working should also be top notch as expected by the consumer. Just coz some random people who complain and don't even use the phone, doesn't mean the mass should also be affected by it. If "see -through" is a problem, then let it be I have paid for it. If people have problem with that, then should go for some other phone.

I've emailed one plus to start a return on my one plus 8 pro, I feel you all should do the same. The fact is the phone has lost functionality (and for me one of the main selling points since I had the one plus 7 pro (which I've already sold and can't just go back to without repurchasing) and truth be told I'd rather have my old one plus 7 pro with its pop up front camera back instead of the one plus 8 pro without the IR camera and the additional $800 I lost by switching. Absolutely disappointed in the one plus brand over this!

Sad of having lost a beautiful functionality just because some crappy media have said you can see under clothes with the IR filter...

I have raised a complain in customer support, we may do all the same to make them realize we don't settle with their desition.

Oneplus is turning into a sh*t show - I feel it no longer listens to the customers or wants to innovate.

I bought the 8 Pro as my 7 broke, and I am so disappointed. No full screen for any video apps and some games, lost gestures functionality, etc... And now this, one of the cool things this phone had to distinguish itself from the others, gone.

The photochrome filter is now a software only filter. It's a complete scam with four separate cameras. I don't get how people are defending OnePlus here and in other threads..

You can try it on your own:

Go to a room with bad lighting and take a flashlight with you. Activate photochrome filter.
Take a picture of a plant -> no filter. Plant green.
Shine a flashlight directly into the sensor -> filter enabled.

If the sensor information should really be merged with the main camera, it wouldn't be possible to take normal pictures with a flashlight right in front of it.
The more light you get in from the flashlight, the more the effect becomes visible. Exactly like people describe it outdoors. But if you move to much in the direction of the main lens with it, you will receive the expected light distortions.

    Just a quick demonstration:

Also the effect is way to digital, when the lens is covered really slowly with a credit card. Shouldn't the effect still be visible on some parts of the picture if it wasn't a software filter?

Please listen to your customers OnePlus and not the stupid clickbait generation. We are paying you and with the broken trust, a lot of people might not consider to buy a OnePlus phone ever again.

Does not live upto the photochromic depth the old 5mp camera created. Surely quality increased to 48mp. But it's just a software filter.
