OnePlus 8T - Display...

    TheMystic , Oct 22, 2020 :
While the panel is good and I don't have the green tint/ black crush problems, I feel this panel is more like an LCD which is always backlit, in the sense that the colors do look like a little washed out.

Also, pictures are not as sharp and punchy as one would expect in an Amoled panel. I know this isn't a QHD panel, but I was expecting a better experience.

    Bugs noticed so far:

    1. Display bug - The display randomly stops responding to Vision mode or Reading mode. Toggling those makes no difference. Only a device restart fixes the problem. This happens quite frequently.

    2. Display Green Tint - At very low brightness (in my case it is around 10% with auto-brightness enabled), the display tends to have the green tint randomly. The brightness tends to dim and increase repeatedly within a small range with a green tint. It is kind of the display struggling to keep the brightness level steady.

    3. Display Color Temperature becomes warm - The displays sometimes switches to a warmer tone on its own and even at the coolest colour temperature setting, it still has a warm tone.

    Some useful info on display:

Have you played with the screen calibration options yet? I don't like the standard calibration also.

Camera view finder also lights up/ brightens up under indoor lighting. More like some white colour filter showing up.
Yes. I'm using the Amoled Wide Gamut setting with 50% colour temperature. This is supposed to be the most vivid setting.

Not yet. My observations on the camera are just initial impressions. Will test out more and get community feedback before submitting a report.

Why is the wallpaper option on the setting and the one which was applied different ? Shouldn't both look the same 😅..what was applied has completely different color

It is dynamic wallpaper that changes colour shade based on the time of day. Wallpapers will become darker during evening. So white in the morning will become grey in the evening. Other colours too will become darker in the evening, and revert to original colour during the day.

Or is this issue visible on 120 hz display? As in my previous mobile (OLED display) it is not there. Black is purely Black.
