If system UI don't respond I would do a factory reset if next update won't fix the issue...

Don't take it through a service center, contact oneplus support online instead... You may get more lucky that way

The service center guys in Kochi should flash your phone, I had been there once and got it fixed for my OP5 , if you are in the same city.

Meanwhile have you tried submitting a feedback here

Is this why I paid so much money for an 8T to get stuck in emergencies? Screen freezes suddenly and touch doesn't work for a minute or two before I get a pop up saying that system ui not responding. How can this occur in a new phone with latest chipset and latest Android version?

Because this is newest Android version a lot of apps are not fully optimise and this may cause issues.

Your error description is not providing any useful informations.

    When does this happen?
Any specific app in use that may cause this?
Have you tried restart the phone?
Are you on latest oxygen version?
Are all playstore apps on the newest version?
Are you using sideload apk or only playstore?
Standard launcher or any alternative one?

If no info provided or just so less you did - easiest answer to give support is always...

DO FACTORY RESET - prior to this backup your data.

Install apps one by one and see if problem reappears.
