It's been happening over the past month, but every time I single press the power button...the phone is reacting like I double pressed and wanted to open the camera. This is causing the phone to launch the camera in my pocket and overheat/run down the battery.

Has anyone else had this problem/is there a fix being worked on?

Disable double click power button to launch camera and try click once power button and then check if the screen turns on and off again or not? If it just turns off then your power button is okay and might be a problem with the power button to launch camera

@aboone1379 do you have your case on?
Is it happening without the case?
There were some threads with similar issues with the power button and camera app opening.

Mine recently started this as well. Happens with case on or off. Turned off double press to launch camera and it still acts as 2 presses... As turning off the screen makes it turn off and immediately turn back on.

Of all the reports of this... REALLY wish OnePlus was able to get this fixed for its customers somehow. One of the most annoying things I've encountered in 2 decades of cell phone ownership.

Actually, I turned off double press to launch camera and rebooted phone. Problem seemed corrected. Turned on double press to launch camera again and so far it's been working fine. Maybe 12 hours or so. Fingers crossed this continues to work!

Had the same issue and sent in for repair in June. Got the phone back in less than a week so quite happy about the quick service. Phone worked great but after 3 weeks the problem popped back up again. Sometimes it happens for like 20 consecutive presses in a row, sometimes only few times a day. Tried to live with it but will send it back in for repair because it's driving me crazy.

Also getting this issue. Turned off the camera opening (originally thought it was another bug). Issue still occurring, a single press turns the phone off, and back onto lock screen (like a double press).

Okay, sent in tuesday, repaired and scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Hope when it's fixed it stays fixed now and not like last time with the issue coming back after some time. Will report back in a few weeks, fingers crossed.

We have come to a next chapter. Got it back after repair, now there's a gap between the back panel and the frame. Can even slide a piece of paper in between. Repair requested for the THIRD time now.

Same issue here, it started one or two weeks ago and it's been 6 months since I'm using this phone. It's sad to have what they call a flagship presenting this sort of a bug and battery drain in less than a day for casual usage. I miss my oneplus 5.
