It's disappointing to hear that project treble won't be available for op5 & 5t. Being a flagship phone it would've been there. For those who don't know about what this is, this is introduced by Google to make Android updates faster by separating oem customisation from the actual Android interphase. The idea is that OEMs don’t need to tweak the update as much to cut down on time between releasing updates.

All the newer phones that are shipping with Oreo has it.

not just that, treboe makes custom rom development a lot easier even more so if they're developing for different devices as the blobs aren't part of the rom with treble,
alas, the best feature of Oreo in not available to us,
but what I can't forgive is, the new screen calibration that comes with Oreo is not available in 5 t,

but they'll have to do the changes at some point for next year's phone. given the whole point of treble it should be simple to back port to the 5 series and a lot easier to maintain any future updates unless OP plan on abandoning 5/5t support like the cheap Chinese manufacturers do

Treble is mandatory when the device launches with Oreo, so there's no doubt the 6 will have it, but we want support for the 3/T and 5/T, since it might be a huge deal to the dev community. It may also cheapen and speed up the update process for the Android P.
