    Part 1 : Unboxing

Fresh out of the shipping box, I'm greeted with a familiar design as an owner of the OG Nord.

The usual high quality packaging we have come to expect from OnePlus.

Matte black with the beautiful Nord Blue accents, and the eye catching Nord embossing, with holographic hues of green and blue.

    Absolutely stunning 🤩

Slicing open the seal of the box I am anxious to see what we are greeted with...

    Peek-a-boo! 👀👀👀

And here she is! - Plastic wrapped for protection, with an informative message regarding screen protectors and the in screen fingerprint reader.

More useful info regarding NFC location and Sim Card placement.

Placing the device aside for one moment, let's check out what else we get in the box.

A neatly packed document pack containing a quick start guide, safety information and a welcome note introducing the Nord team, detailing the Nord journey, with cool hand drawn caricatures from all the team. A nice personal touch.

Also Nord 2 is accompanied by a clear TPU which means it can stay protected right out of the box, again something you won't get with other manufacturers.

If the included case doesn’t do it for you then OnePlus provides an excellent selection of alternatives.

Now I can't tell you how much joy I get from OnePlus's cables and chargers! The UK 65W Warp charger is just a thing of beauty - Now this may be subjective but I've always thought that UK 3 pin plugs look more aesthetically pleasing for some reason, perhaps as it's just familiar to me so just looks correct - but its stylish, modern and compact and delivers.

Of course, we also get that signature Red OnePlus cable we have all come to love. Something about the thickness and durability of these cables I find extremely satisfying.

Superior quality, eye catching and modern, definitely puts the rest over dedicated chargers to shame.

Perfectly wound and ready to deliver ultra fast charging speeds.

Only small critique is that I'd really like to see OnePlus move from Red to Teal for the cable colour in the Nord line, as showcased here by Dave2D.

Don't forget the handy sim removal tool that I almost missed in all the excitement of my unboxing.

    Part 2 : Design

Now onto the device, the part we've all been waiting for..

Straight off the bat this thing feels great in the hand, not too dissimilar from its Big brother the OnePlus 9/9 Pro in both design and feel, with a beautiful matte texture to the back of the device I received - Gray Sierra.

Its grippy, doesn't attract fingerprints, and feels great in the hand, almost silky.

Now I wasn't quite as fortunate as some of the other LAB reviewers in being able to pick my device colour as I love the look of the Blue Haze and was also a little disappointed to have been the only one to receive the 8GB RAM/128GB Storage model as I was hoping to put the top spec version through its paces a bit performance wise.

However, this model is more than adequate for the average user, and It's a real blessing to be a part of this LAB and experience the latest in the Nord line before many others so I certainly can't complain.

The OnePlus Nord 2 looks more premium than its price with a classy glass back and glossy frame. It’s available in two additional colourways: Green Wood (India exclusive) and Blue Haze.

Measuring 158.9 x 73.2 x 8.25mm and weighing 189g its comfortable to hold and has a premium feel to it.

Admittedly I'm a sucker for smaller devices, despite having large hands, arthritis means one handed use is sometimes uncomfortable. A smaller Nord is definitely something id like to see in the near future.

Great to see the alert slider, which was missing on the Nord CE. Thankfully, present on the Nord 2. It’s an extremely useful signature feature that I use regularly so I'm glad to see it back.

The front and back are feature Gorilla Glass 5, and the sides are plastic although could easily be mistaken for metal, either way this device look and feels really good. 1629129996182.jpg

There's a rectangular camera bump on the back containing three cameras, a hole-punch for the selfie camera in the top left hand corner and a USB-C port on the bottom. No headphone jack to see here, but seriously who needs them anyway these days with so many great buds on the market to choose from, including OnePlus's very own.

The Nord 2 features a 6.43-inch Fluid AMOLED display (2400 x 1080 pixels) with a 90Hz refresh rate. The device comes with a pre-applied screen protector. I have noticed it's not the most durable and has scratched easily, however it keeps the screen protected and is a nice additional touch that many manufacturers could learn from.

Overall it's a large beautiful and snappy display which is more than adequate at this price point.

Stay tuned for more to come on the Camera, Battery and final thoughts.

    And remember Never Settle.

Great review!! Can't wait for Camera and battery performance. I've been planning to switch my old OnePlus 7 with something better and I hope this device is it.

Is anyone else getting no notification alerts for Whatsapp incoming texts?
Since 8th August, I'm not getting any alerts like Vibration, popup banner or message tone when a Whatsapp message enters my phone. Hell, not even the Whatsapp Logo is being shown in the Status bar. The notification just silently sits in the notifications without me knowing.
Oneplus Support team, please help! 🙏🏻
