Fast_and_Curious , May 3, 2022 : If you have wifi, why not connect the other device directly to it? Why would you need hotspot if you already have a wifi?

And vice-versa, WiFi Direct hotspot can be active while connected to WiFi or USB tethering. It's an awkward work around. But, it's unlikely that Google will bring back the unblocked WiFi while hotspot/tethering that earlier versions of Android were able to enjoy
