Yep, I hope it doesn't get as bad as the 8 series.
5G and what else? From build to components everything is a compromise. So at least for me the price isn't justified.
Just when I thought it can't get worse.
I'm curious about the "almost" part.
Highly unlikely, OnePlus isn't their only client.

The IMX 586 Camera sensor is actually used since the OnePlus 7 .. ;)

And you're right no one needs an 2MP Macro Lens...
At that resolution you can easily take the shot with the main sensor and crop in...
An 8 MP zoom would've been way better...

    Anyways...
I think the Nord is meant for those using a device below the OP7 and want 5G...
It's an cheaper underspec'd OP7 except that useless additional front camera maybe...

The 7Pro has also it's flaws in camera processing but to me it's the best design and feature package they delivered after the OP3...

    A great summary SJ.
I didn't expect the cameras to be like this.
They have lots of work there.
Absolutely agree on the last points as Pewds said Yesteryear flagship over a midranger any day

Oneplus community guys must be having a tough time today. Between my thread in CS, your thread in Nord and the display thread, they must be working extra time to figure out another hype tactics to hide all this:p

The Nord can keep up in most situations with the main sensor but that wide-angle selfie seems to be a real mess...

But I actually don't like Video reviews of cameras...
I'd rather have full resolution samples that I can look at precisely and longer than a couple big seconds.. ;)

I don't think if Nord can even hold against the 6t. It has nothing to offer over it other than 5G which is kinda pointless right now.
Well, with that kind of marketing and "first impressions" no one would've.
The hype train runs through the community app where "recommended" is the default page.

    Great thread @SJBoss.
U told me everything i wanted to talk about..

GST also might have given push to the price..
if it was 25K for the top variant "then the price" wouldnt had been the factor.

One more thing.. U forgot to mention about the "OOS".. there are Bloatwares (Amazon, Netflix, dailyhunt) & ads (RCC in settings, shelf, etc.)

Exactly what I was thinking. My OP6 is still snappy, still takes pretty good photos even with the stock camera app, feels premium. Only thing is battery has taken a beating and needs replacement. Once I get the battery changed, I still can use it for a couple of years!

The Nord will probably be better in difficult light situations or low light...
Just as the OP3T still can hold up against the 7Pro in optimal light...

    No arguing that...:)
Probably for the years to come...
I'm still waiting for that killer app that's only possible with that kind of bandwidth...

Even the 8+128 varient would've made much more sense at 25k.
Indeed... I had that in mind before writing this specially the crap dailyhunt app.
Well that's a given with slightly newer hardware.
don't hold your breath. We all know how they advertised LTE speeds and what we akchually got.

True, and for me it's not only about wide-angle selfie, the 32MP module produces not sharp, overexposed shots, like if beauty mode is on. Meanwhile details are there on Pixel 4.

And like on any other OnePlus device, I can clearly see the watercolor effect. Some objects seem ok, but then I look closely at the edges, which don't exist at all, smeared with soap, and everything I can come up with is: "Wtf OnePlus? Again, really?".

Wall is a wall on Pixel 4 with its cracks, lines, toughness and small details. Nord: wall is a polished, shiny piece of concrete. And for me it's pretty much visible on every shot.

    It 48MP...12MP Pixelbinnig... ;)
And photos will still look good on an 4K or 1080P Display..
Maybe just don't do a print bigger than 70x50cm..;)
No need to crop down to 2MP... ;)

    I agree with your view @SJBoss .
If the idea was to make an affordable phone with a DNA similar to the Bacon - their begining - the phone as should be made with different components and packed only with useful HW.

Too many useless camera. Useless 5G. Fragile glass back but more cheap behaving plastic frame. I think all of this was unnecessary or mistake.

So from my point of view it was designed in a hurry and they have forgotten the initial idea.

Summary: I'm sure it is not my affordable phone.
And seeing reviews of many tech influencers i cannot change my opinion.
