    Nice tutorial Just tried this for my phone and got it on 1.0.0 but it would be nice to update it since the 2.1.4 version is out already and is a complete different tutorial since you don't use TWRP and the ROOT goes away. still Kudos! very nice

    Can I apply this guide 1:1 to COS 13? Have there been updates to the Software used along the process which I should be aware of?

    Thanks to Chromium for this guide and to everyone answering questions here :)

    Good evening. i thought this might be the place to post this. Hopefully i'm correct...
    Have upgraded from CM 12.x to 13.0 and now have Cyanogen OS version 13.0-ZNHOEAS2JK. Security Patch: 1 May 2016. Kernel: 3.4.110-cyanogenmod'g, 14 April 2016.

    However i do not have root. i did not elect to reinstall it during the 13.0 installation process since i had tried this twice before and was not able to finish the final boot.

    However everything seems to be working alright with the phone except that we still don't have root. i have enabled Developer Options by clicking 7 times and then enabled "On". However there is no option in the list to enable root. i've pretty much looked everywhere in the Developer Options. i've also read on another forum that CM 13.0 doesn't come with root. If it doesn't, then can i install a superuser app through TWRP, which we still have installed?

    Root was pretty important since it allowed me to use Titanium Backup and pretty much saved my phone after the first two attempts to install 13.0 were unsuccessful.

    Have a great evening! :)

    COS 13 has no built in root, just flash SuperSU 2.65 it should work fine:

    Folks, this steps don't seem to work for me. I have SU installer on the phone now. It ask's me to either download via play store of TWRP, but neither seems to work.

    uninstall "SU installer";
    download superSU 2.72 on your internal storage and flash it via TWRP

    Are there any reliable way to root without wiping all the data? I need to use recovery program in order to get an deleted map with videos back. But if I must wipe everything the information that is from the deleted videos might be gone...

    if your bootloader is locked you need to wipe all otherwise if you had unlocked bootloader you need to install custom recovery via fastboot and the flash supesu via custom recovery without loose data.
