It's a hardware design defect in the OPO. You can't fix in software.

I'm still using mine... I guess from what I'm reading, I need to replace the battery and learn how to update the OS. I'm not versed in these things, though, and I'm afraid I'll brick the thing. Even with its deterioration, the OPO is still quite a great phone.

Mine is still going ! I think the screen is getting a bit dim, I need to push up the display's backlight a bit more often and GPS tracking is not always good. I'm thinking about Lineage OS these days, for obvious security reasons.

Updating the OS isn't that tough. In the General OnePlus One section of the Community there is a thread labeled "Step by step guide to flash TWRP & install Lineage OS (no root required)" by Habib.khan316 that is very easy to follow and even has some screenshots of steps to follow. This is what I used and it worked like a charm. Before you do it though I would suggest to read thru the entire thread because if you run into any roadblocks there are others that have had it and it's usually answered in the thread. With changing the battery it seems pretty easy to do. I haven't done it but just YouTube it and there are plenty of videos on how to do it.

Where did you get your battery from? is it an official OPO battery or is it a 3rd party one?

Also, when you replaced the battery did you have to flash OS again?

What tutorial did you follow? I want to replace my battery as well

I got it from eBay, kind of a risky move but ended up being good. It looks official, I compared it to my original battery and the only difference was the manufacture date.

I didn't have to flash my OS again. I just charged it to 100% and cycled it a couple times and it has been working great since.

I can't remember which tutorial I followed, but it was very easy. I think removing the back cover was the hardest part. To be honest I think I watched a couple YouTube videos and read a couple walkthroughs and they all pretty much said the same thing.

What battery from eBay or other marketplace would you recommend? i don't want a shitty battery. I'd prefer an official one, but OnePlus won't ship me one.

It looks like he's sold out. I searched for OnePlus One battery and picked the person with the best reviews. @Slatter191 might know of a good source.

YES!! An old school OnePlus One respect thread. Bought mine back in September 2014 after I got an invite from another commentor on Droid Life and never looked back. To this day it's sitting next to me as my daily driver. Original battery, locked and stock COS 13.1 baby!

I may pull the trigger on the Sony Xperia XZ Premium but, I'm waiting to see if the price drops and they add back in double-tap-to-wake.

I changed the battery for about 10$ and went to LOS (not the latest nightlies because, for a reason, it drains more battery life, maybe it will be fixed) and it gave a second youth for my OPO, going from 3h sot to 6h sot. So now, I'm wondering if I really need to move to OP5

My OPO is still strong with the sultan ROM. But I might need a new backcover and possibly a new battery.

Someone can recommend a seller in Europe?

Its Good but not great. with time most of the users regrets of buying this phone bcoz of the price and availability in accessories.
we have to go through very low quality replacement parts because oneplus doesnt provide original replacement parts.so it majorly consumes the likeness of the user to the phone completely.
