since there's no reply from OnePlus, let's get the users to know how it is to apply bulletin patches:

now OnePlus: please tell your excuse!
and don't worry, it's known you get the patches at least 4 weeks before the bulletin report by Google goes public!

I don't think you will get a reply from Manu J. or any one else from Oneplus. It seems they do not have the courage to speak honestly to the folks that bought their products. I believed them when they said they would keep their products updated with bimonthly security updates. I wish I knew then what I know now and I would have taken my trust elsewhere.

Like I have said before, I think that OnePlus has painted themselves into a corner when it comes to Android updates. They make promises that they can't keep. They have too little resources to keep up with the models that they release. It is kind of like HTC all over again. HTC tried to be a major manufacturer, then they released too many models too quickly and couldn't keep up with promises. Now look at them, bad PR killed their business. OnePlus is on the same road.

one Thing OnePlus might do better is the OpenSource community behind them. but I am tired of using custom ROMs on a up to date device which is made "outdated" after one year because of bad update/security politics.

the delay of the latest update also should be added on top of maintainance time, in case they still maintain the device as stated in the OP.

I think it is time for Oneplus to do some house keeping and replace staff with those that are competent.
Starting with that Manu J, who seems to be responsible for the failed security update commitment as well as the failed roll out of Android 10 to the 6 series or is it now two failed roll outs?

    OnePlus makes an update:
    1. Google has to sign it to deliver it with google play store (and gets paid for the signing process),
    2. carrier has to sign it if it's a carrier specific issue.

if there's an issue they'll start from the beginning.

Android 9 is still a good OS if it gets needed Security patches, Google is giving them to Android Partners every month.

I am not that happy with Android 10 on the OnePlus 6, had some total freeze which needed a restart to get it working again. also sometimes the keyboard doesn't change, I can type numbers but only see the letters.

  11. Weirdpepperguy , via OnePlus 7 Pro T-Mobile , Dec 16, 2019 :
The problem with Android 9 is that Android is always optimized to the latest version of the OS. If it freezes or whatever it is a bug from OnePlus, they should definitely fix that. My problem is I was promised OS updates and security patches. I haven't even got to try Android 10 to see how buggy it is on my phone. I am not getting OS updates or security patches

this phone is the most difficult to work phone I've ever had. so non intuitive and sometimes just backwards. so much so that I came to make this lil post. coming from my Note 9 I was lured by the screen to phone ratio tbh, didn't do much or really any research before I made the decision. saw 5g and the screen and I turned my back on the note and s pen [e]1f622[/e] and now every day I think to myself why, oh why did I not just upgrade to the note 10 instead[e]1f613[/e][e]1f630[/e]. now I am counting the days until I am again upgrade eligible so that I can get rid of the horrid piece of convoluted technically. to anyone looking to purchase a practically new one plus 7 pro 5g let me know maybe we can work something out . to one plus , if you have any integrity at all, if you really care about making people's lives better through good technology, I beg you, please ,please don't sell any more of you products to the human beings of this planet. please[e]1f64f[/e] . there's almost nothing I want more in this world, One Plus, than to please be able to give this phone back to you somehow and get a note 10

    closing my thread ok. but

first you sell a product which is released without a proper validation. and then rollout update , again, without proper validation. these few days have been really tough, have been travelling and had a really hard time finding charging spot multiple times a day...
also felt like posting new thread is better then searching as by the time it is done searching, battery would have droped by few %tages.
