    Mr. BG , Sep 28, 2016 :
    Welcome to the OnePlus FAQ.

Please read BEFORE asking questions or making new threads!

This is not an official thread run by Oneplus. I'm a
member, just like you, trying to help out. Please take the effort to read this entire post and the first page, and understand we will
not answer any questions that have been asked and answered before.
There will (to the best of my knowledge today) be no more updates.

Android N or O will not happen for the Oneplus X.

There have been no more security updates for the Oneplus X since November 2016, it is also unlikely there will be any updates or bugfixes. Please do not shoot the messenger.

    On updating from earlier versions:
Clear system cache and backup data before doing any updating!
OOS 3.1.4 full OS can be found here!
This version is pretty stable, but still lacks the much desired camera improvements.

    Custom ROM's
For the tech savvy there is always the option to install custom ROM, here are Selection of ROMS and a few useful links.

Be sure you know what you're doing before installing these!

I'm not responsible for you f*****g up your phone ;)

FAQ, please read this before asking questions!

    Solved problems:

    • Apps to SD no longer supported -> It just moved, check here
    • Bluetooth: discovers and pairs devices, but does not connect -> delete the old configuration on phone and BT device, then reconnect.
    • Oneplus launcher is constantly crashing for some people (no bug but cache related, check further down for a solution that works 95% of the time)
    • Heating issues -> this is normal after updating, see the tips section below.
    • Unable to open Access permissions in Apps under settings. -> It moved, check here
    • Battery Optimization option not working for App settings. -> Check here
    • Turn off scanning in location solves the WiFi always on draining the battery.
    • Kill all recent apps option missing -> Check here
    • Wifi turns on automatically and so does wifi nearby scanning which drains battery (switch off wifi and Bluetooth scanning under settings -> location)
    • When you get "Messenger stopped", allow Facebook messenger permission to use storage in app permissions.
    • When you get "Maps has stopped" you need to allow Google Photo app permission to use storage in app permissions.

    Google Play Store crashing

Can mostly be solved by deactivating Google+ and a simple reboot (Check here also and Tips below for other possible solutions)

    OnePlus Launcher crashing (credits Kéno40)

If resettings all apps prefs (menu Apps, 3 dots on the top right) doesn't help.
    • First erase OnePlus Launcher Data. You'll loose your configuration...
    • Reboot in safe mode (Press power off on screen menu for 3 sec
    • Then in that mode, change random Launcher settings (google bar, size of drawer...) to overwrite some of them
    • For that, long press on an empty zone on the launcher, then menu at the right bottom and slide on the sides to see all settings.
    • Reboot and reset your launcher. It should be OK.
    Got Bugs?

If you find any bugs kindly report them in the official bugreporting system

Please make sure the bug has not been reported already, also be sure to only report replicable bugs.

    SD card problems

Several people can't use their SD card, or are not able to format it in the phone itself.

It is quite possibly has something to do with the partition tables. There are also a lot of cheap, bad qualitir even fake SD cards around. Be sure to get a quality card!

This info is from Android Central!

Here is a short description workaround by Dchrono:
    • Back up your SD card on PC
    • allow your device to format the SD card.
    • Run a chkdsk/f on it in Windows
    • format it in Windows
    • After that allow your phone to format it again!
If this doesn't work maybe the nice people at SanDisk can offer some help

    How to fix network issues:
Got problems with WiFi, Bluetooth or your cellular network? First try and delete the old configuration, if that doesn't work you can reset your network settings.
    • Go to Settings -> Backup & reset -> tap the “Network settings reset” option.
    • Hit the “Reset Settings” button and hit It again after the warning
    • You will see message confirming that your network settings have been reset.

    Tips and Tricks:
    • Make sure you have backed up all your data before updating!
    • Clean the system cache from recovery before running the update
    • Clear app cache and data in case of misbehaving/crashing apps.
    • Also check app permissions when said apps keeps crashing.
    • Start your phone in Safe mode and run it like that for a day, if it is stable like that it's not your phone hardware or the OOS update, but more likely some app you installed.
    • Update all your apps to prevent crashing (Play Services is different in M), if you can't get into Play Store as described earlier you may be forced to do the following:
    • Go to settings -> apps -> Google Play Services
    • Then go to storage, clear cache and data (in manage space)
    • Restart your phone, if that doesn't work i hope you backed up everything because all you can do now is:
    • Perform a factory reset if you have a myriad of heating, charging and/or stability issues, that usually solves the problems.

Good question, I never put apps on SD because it's so wobbly in Android, I put my data on SD. I may check on that if I can find the time.

    Is this any better?

Still I have something productive to add: after the update the lockscreen just tells the "name" of the network provider in the status bar. No band (LTE/3G/E/...) is shared. The "home screen" does not even show the name of the network you are registered with. For that one would have to pull down the quick menu.

This is a step back from LL because here the lock and home screen both showed the name of the provider plus band...

Battery draining is quite normal after updating, have you cleared cache etc?

Move apps to SD has always been wobbly, need confirmation...

    That is John Cleese!

If I'm correct that was a change Google implemented in M versus L.
