OnePlus7 Pro curved screen glare and distortion problem

7p is growing on me. All the glare is there just finding ways around it. The positives are huge and I love the fluidity. ugh. Makes it a tough decision. :)

Just used the phone for about an hour. These comments are comparing my OP6 to the OP7 pro.

Firstly the distortion around the edges is probably a deal breaker, given the width of the screen is the same as my op6 this means the OP7 pro actually has less width of un distorted srceen space.

The other issue is the auto brightness makes the screen too dark in the office I am working in. Compared to the Op6 it's auto settings make for a much brighter screen and side by side the op7 pro screen looks dim. We need to be able to adjust the sensitivity of the auto brightness. Putting the OP6 and 7 on full brightness next to each other the op7 screen is brighter so the potential is there.

First one I am sure is the deal breaker but I believe we will see that adjustment option in a near future version of Oxygen OS. Seems like something they could do.

It was the same with the Op6 at launch, they did fix the brightness though after about 2 months.

I wouldn't bother trying to communicate with this idiot his brain obviously can't process information at all.

Just did a direct comparison of the glare Op6 to Op7. The glare was no worse than op6, maybe slightly better. The issue could well be that the curve means it can appear more often.

Just played Guardians of the galaxy 2 side by side on the 2 devices, the difference on the Op7 was stunning. Watching Netflix on all of the screen on this phone is a game changer, looking head on the curved distortion was acceptable to me.

I gave up with the auto brightness - it's never bright enough indoors for me.

The OP6T was rightly voted best phone overall last year by many people including Marques Brownlee. The OP7 is the same great phone with an updated chip, so will be fabulous. The notch is barely noticeable in normal use - maybe only when zooming videos. Certainly much easier to live with than the glare and distortion of the Pro.

here's another picture that shows the glare on the curves.

Yes in a pitch black room other than a bit of distortion and colour shift the glare is gone but in day to day life the glare is more noticeable and annoying than flat screened phones.

I've been using my 7 pro for around five days now and I also am not a fan of the curved scream I wish they would have went with a flat screen like the OnePlus 7 and the OnePlus 6t.

Such a shame, they make a nearly perfect phone and then ruin it with these stupid curved edges. Read the reviews Oneplus, 90% considers it a disadvantage… WHY???

It's a design compromise because of the notchless display. The phone got super thick when they put in the pop up camera, so to stop people thinking they were holding a brick they had to taper front as well as back.

Personally I can't believe @Carl signed it off.

I've sadly come to conclusion I'm sending mine back. Such a shame as the phone is exceptional but due to the large radius curved edges there's no position you can hold it in that doesn't show reflection on the edges.

Maybe they like not being able to see all their screen.

I was wary of the curve but having used it for 2 days now I can say its alright for me at least. Its quite a subtle curve imo.
