[OOS 5.0] Design flaws

With all due respect- we are not asking them to copy pixel phone's OS, we are asking OnePlus to stick to AOSP design language, two different things.

Nested settings is one of the features of Oreo, which is missing. There's nothing wrong in asking for that either.

I don't know about you or the others, but I purchased OnePlus 3 because it was rocking a near AOSP ROM, it's the first thing I look for when I buy a phone, and I'd prefer that they do not change that.
But don't get me wrong, though. Just because I disagree with some of their decisions doesn't mean I don't appreciate their work. I mean, kudos to OnePlus for releasing Oreo so fast. They did a tremendous job of supporting OnePlus 3. I just don't want them to gradually turn Oxygen OS to something like TouchWiz.

I hope you did not take my words as offence as it was not my intention. I have OnePlus 3T as my daily driver on stock oreo beta and I can't see the problem in what you see. You can ask anything of course and I agree with you because I dont want TouchWiz on my OP too.

I don't understand why they have to make these useless UI changes, every update just moves oxygenos further away from stock android.
Really pushing me towards a custom ROM.

Atleast give us an toggle to revert these UI changes if you really have to keep making them.

completely agree, would like to add that settings menu is actually less functional than it used to be which is rediculous

Try the substratum theme, it provides a lot of accent colors + you can also change the "dark" background.

I really hope Oxygen OS team is reading this. UI is looking really odd in OOS 5.0.

I really hope they bring the new UI for settings and quick settings.

This is a third-party software. Besides it works with issues. So Substratum isn't an option here.

you said about essential phone. i saw that they have beta oreo and it s like the pixel, the quick settings with that black icons on white background. why oneplus is trying to deviate from "stock" . i think most of us , for that reason we bought this phone. for a stock experience. the design ui , from the folders , how they changed the theme with that callers to the calling ui , with that swipe down to answer ,really...??? very poor decisions , i m dissapointed. really dissapointed

I'm pretty sure that it is possible to go your own design language (I mean OnePlus here) in details but stay as close to stock Android as possible in common. In my opinion this can save so beloved by OnePlus customers (us) balance between stock Android and additional features.

Stock Oreo is gorgeous. To have manufacturers think they can do better and to end up with garbage is unforgiveable.

And i still don't understand why Google Dialer isn't installed and used by default. It's on the Play Store, but of course we can't install it. Why? Because Oneplus. Nobody wants OEM apps and skins but they are still foisted on us, even after a decade of users asking them not to.

It was okay when i owned Nexus phones as Stock Android was default. The way Google designed it. Now Custom ROMs are the only way to get AOSP Android, the way it's supposed to be.

I decided for myself that I will go Custom Oreo ROM if they won't fix all this goofy "design" in 8.1 or I will buy Pixel 2 XL.

yes , that poor design choice, is keeping me to go with the pixel 2xl rather than the 5t , if they continue the trend with "oneplus customisation" that s why i picked the op3 because it was stock android at a convenient price that the google pixel!! but i m willing to spend the extra bucks now if they continue like that.

I had exactly the same thoughts when I switched to 3T from Nexus 6. Now I think to switch back to Google devices if OnePlus will continue to "customise" Android the way they do it now.
