    Good work Hamster.
    Keep it up.
Just wanted to clarify one thing.
During night time, when phone not in use ,what's the point in keeping either mobile data or WiFi On.

Depends on each person, could be waiting on a message or email. Things of that nature. If you don't need them on keep them off. People need to adjust to their lifestyle and needs after all. :)

    It's not because of that.
As there is nothing like a fixed pattern for charging.
But the reason is all together different.
Using your phone while charging, the mobile / WiFi network strength.
The power hungry apps you use , playing high graphic intense games etc all influence heat up .

Clear cache from recovery and setting, clear cache of Google play services. If you have updated the OS recently let it be for a few days and try again. Should you still face the issue, factory reset or get it serviced. And use the search (engine) function next time.

    was the phone new?

if it was new leave it to behave like that for a week or so it's absolutely normal in the first few weeks to like that.

    if the phone wasn't new

do a master reset, see if you have the latest update and again, leave it to settle down for a few weeks.
