    Compressed air is your best bet. Leave the phone off while you do it and make several passed at an angle. Blowing straight into the earpiece will just set the dirt in further so blow air at an angle.

    If attempting to clean the earpiece you can, with the phone off, use a high percentage (91% or higher) isoprophyl alcohol to with a q-tip to break down the dirt inside the piece before taking compressed air to it.

    Forgot to mention, if you decide to use isoprophyl alcohol let it dry before apply compressed air. The dirt will bind together while wet but dry out and break apart after drying.
