Sound op6; 10.3.5 update; wired earphone mic sound issue Sep 6, 2020

ever since the recent update to 10.3.5, there is a mic issue with my OP6 using wired earphones. issue subsides once i disconnect and reconnect the wired earphone.

1. same handset and same wired earphone wasnt giving any issue for last 2.5 - 3 yrs. started only after the update to 10.3.5 oxygen os.
2. occurs during calls and happens randomly when my mic stops working while i can still hear the other person's voice. happens mostly during the middle of the call and not from the start of the call.
3. disconnecting and reconnecting the wired earphone resolves the mic issue.

have cleared cache from boot/recovery menu. have NOT done a full factory reset yet. want to see if there are any other options to try out first.
