OP7P Vs OP6 - Call Quality

So far the call quality is crap compared to the OP6. Ear piece sounds shocking and speakerphone is nowhere near sensitive enough. I could go 20 feet from the OP6 and the person at the other end of the phone could still hear me but on the OP7P I can't go more than 60cm away before the DSP clips my voice. Is this something that can be fixed?

Why would you have your phone 20 feet away? Also, if it works better at close distance it also probably cancells noise far better

For me the whole point in the speaker phone is the ability to use it hands free. Isn't that what it's for?! You usually need hands free facilities when you're doing something else. On the OP6 it was far better - the person at the other end of the call found it hard to distinguish between speakerphone on/off. If I can't move around whilst the phone is stationary, what's the point? I may as well hold it. It's shockingly poor, as is the ear piece quality.

EDIT: We bought three OP7Pros - all three exhibit the same issue. W're also finding that the recipients of our calls are hearing a type of 'buzzing' they're hearing themselves echo.

I'll have to test this tonight, 60cm (2 feet) clearly isn't enough range. Some times I'll be cooking, walking around the kitchen, and talking on the speakerphone on a counter 8-10 feet away. Was not an issue with my OP1, neither was buzzing or an echo. Will test tonight.

I too had the OPO before the OP6 and had no issues. Cooking and walking around the kitchen was exactly what I was doing, I couldn't go anywhere!

I also have complaints of echoing/buzzing from people talking to me as well as distorted voice at times. Can this be remedied through software or is it hardware defect?

OMG - Feet and cm's? Is this a conversion test?!?!?!?!?

20 feet is quite a distance, mic's aren't something you'd think would be messed with since no one ever talks about having the "latest and greatest" mic tech built in. If not mistaken the OP6 has two, one top and one bottom. Not sure about the OP7P, I didn't test it out as I don't have one but also don't remember for seeing it how many mic's it had - thinking it was similar with two?

+1. Earpiece sound is bad on a HD call. I have already reported this. It's like sound from an fm radio. However, on a non hd call, it's good enough.

confirmed, very poor range, echoey, and poor volume on both ends using the speaker phone

ok I'm glad it's not just me, made my first couple calls today and I can hear a sort of high pitched interference in the ear piece that's driving me nuts. I tlreally hope they can fix this with a software update.

this is a nightmare for me. I usually call my wife when I get off work and put my phone on speaker and put it in my console in my car. Now I can't. I have to shout and usually pick the phone up and hold it toy.fave while on speaker. with the op 6t I didn't have these problems. I literally went out tonight and bought a used op 6t just so I could have decent call quality. I will be returning my op 7 amateur.

Haha, guessing you're not in Britain. We still use miles, feet, inches, stones and lbs. But we also use km, m, cm and mm. There's no logic to where we use what, it's mental.

A working speakerphone is pretty fundamental on a phone.

I do know here in the US a mechanic needs two sets of wrenches, one metric and one "US" :D:p. We also measure in "up yonder as the crow flies" ;)

Brilliant. Many moons ago I flew light aircraft and the fuel consumption figures were always one to watch; your gallons are different to ours!
