"Open/Close menu" option not available under Buttons settings

    Kihara Ite , Jun 29, 2016 :
Why is the OP3 missing the "Open/Close menu" option under Settings -> Buttons -> Recent button: Long press menu action?

    OP2 has it.

    This is OnePlus 3

And this is OnePlus 2 OnePlus 2 - menu available.png

Edit: this is solved with the Nougat / OxygenOS 4.0 update.

    Ok, thanks! :)

And can you get any feedback from the dev team that how long it will take them to implement this feature?

What I'd like is an option for BACK BUTTON in the long or double-press list. Reason? I have smallish hands, and if I'm hanging on to something while riding the "skytrain" (an LRT transit train in greater Vancouver) so that I don't fly around, it can be hard to reach the corners of the device. Currently I have long press on the back button set to the recent apps, so I can get to recent from either side, but I'd like to be able to set long-press on the recents button to back, so I can get to back from either side, too.

Ideally we would be able to set the default action rather than having Recent as default and having menu as a double tap or long press option. I, like many, use a long hold on the home button for Recent

I would really like the option to force close app with long press return button as was the case in the développer options on the OnePlus One.

Doesn't work. App doesn't open - doesn't do a thing. Did you tested it on OnePlus 3 without root?

Yes same here, instead of the button "Recent" I'd like to change it to menu and the home button long press for recent.

Yeah, worked fine for me. I'll look into it some more, I'm not sure what's up with it.

Edit: did you try opening it from the App drawer first? It doesn't seem assignable to Voice Search until you open it, but it seems to work fine after that.

Working on a Xposed module to add the missing "Open/close Menu" option. There will be alternative, modded Settings.apk, for those without Xposed as well (already done). Release once i get the module done for those with Xposed.

I tried that, and it is "assignable". It just doesn't open from drawer, home screen or when I assign as action to buttons.

This was the official reply to my ticket:

    "Good day!

The "Open/Close menu" option has been removed from the OnePlus 3.

Let us know if you have other questions.

    Have a great day!

    Best,

    Blaire"
