optical, May 21, 2019 : Hello folks!! I am Andrea (Optical here in the forum) from Rimini, Italy. Traveling and photography are my hobbies and technology is my passion. Before to start to share my experience i suggest you to read this intro to the Community Sample Shot Program Now we can start.... With great amazement in mid-February I was contacted by Oneplus (here on the forum) asking me if I was interested in testing a prototype on the field (the one that later turned out to be 7 Pro) giving back my opinion and advices. I suppose you can imagine my joy in being accepted and to finally receive the box containing the prototype a few days later !!! From that day on, (it was mid-March), the OnePlus 7 Pro has become my every day companion, both as a main phone and as a camera. I must say that my photographic background is mainly based on the use of mirrorless, first with APS-c sensor and then Full Frame and normally I'm not used to use mobile's cameras unless with friends and on very sporadic occasions. But let's go back to this incredible prototype: first of all, the generous dimensions and the incredible quality of the display (90Hz rulez) left me speechless ... just WOW !! And then, once started, the discovery of the Popup camera ... another WOW !!!! I've never been a fan of the notch, let alone the holes on the display seen on other models so the Popup camera (and obviously I speak for myself) is the best solution that Oneplus could adopt. No interference on the display and ready to use when needed. Unbelievable! The device, despite its size, is well balanced and is masked by a plastic case that hides (from the most curious) the shape .... I had to keep everything top secret and say nothing even under torture! I started using it immediately as a phone and I must also say that the first firmware versions were really stable. Never a reboot! Excellent reception and wonderful sound: strong, clean and stereo. The type-c 3.1 is also excellent, allowing you to connect it with a very affordable cable directly to a monitor or a television (for me this is a Killer Feature). Talking about the photographic part: in these 2 months the continuous updates have improved a lot the focus speed, the night mode and obviously the performance in terms of quality. The main sensor does a great job in low light conditions, the 3x zoom has an excellent quality and the wide angle was something I was looking forward to on an Oneplus .... they made me very happy. I can only congratulate the engineers for the work done during the optimization phase (still today I receive updates to improve the performances!) and for the choice made on the mounted sensors. Here below you'll find some of the photos taken: unfortunately, in the last few weeks, weather in Italy was really awful and in I often had to fall back on goals that were not originally planned. I love street photography, however In the photos that I add, you won't find many street photos even for a matter of privacy .... Nowdays it's always a matter of concern and you have to be very careful about it l! ;-) Within this non-review I have included photos of various kinds just to give you an idea about the potential of the lenses. I didn't do any kind of editing. The only changes made is the 16: 9 crop of the photos (I lreally ove the wide format ) and compressed via Lightroom to 2Mb size. I always shoot in 4: 3 to get more megapixels and then croped. Obviously the tested firmware was/is in beta and not definitive I prefer not to dwell too much on technical details, also because I would like to have an exchange of questions or judgments after you have read and seen the photos. I will surely publish many more photos both here on the forum and on Instagram and Flickr. I want to thank all the staff of Oneplus and in particular @Crystal Z. who was always so kind and precious in guiding us in this amazing and crazy adventure. A special greeting to @Bouncer71 (dont forget to watch his diary here) who has shared this journey with me to discover Oneplus 7 Pro.
