OPX $249 vs Nexus 5x $299 (w/ $25 GC)

OPX at $249 is a great deal ($266 shipped for me)

Nexus 5x at $299 (shipped free from B&H Photo w/ $25 GC) has me tempted again.

I have the OPX and had the 5x and sold it for no reason other than I have been satisfied with my iPhone 6 Plus.

They are more less equal in price until November 30th when the B&H Photo deal ends. Same price from Google Store, but you pay shipping and no $25 GC.

OPX wins in the build, expandable storage (once they figure out how to get it to work) and screen category.

Nexus 5x wins easily in OS, camera, processor, battery life, updates, fingerprint sensor and a huge win in connectivity with Band 17 support (I'm on AT&) and 2.4/5 Ghz Wifi ac.

Just talked myself into ordering a graphite and I'll let the battle between them decide.

I have had both phones. OnePlus X when it gets updated to Android 6.0 (and the when is a big unknown with OnePlus in charge of the software) will improve.

Nexus 5x has a bigger battery and benefits to a large degree due to Doze and the improvements under the hood in Android 6.0.

The OnePlus X is physically stunning but under the hood the hardware is gimped to avoid cannibalizing OnePlus 2 sales.

Gotta love Black Friday. I actually ordered direct from Google just for the ease of returns/warranty.

If you buy direct from Google then you deal direct with Google. If you buy from B&H Photo then you need to deal with LG.

Google's return policy for the holiday season is: All purchases made from November 27, 2015 — December 25, 2015 may be returned through January 22, 2016.

This is even better than their normal 15 day no questions asked return policy, which allows you to buy and try if that's what you like to do.

I ordered a 5x this morning to throw in the mix. My son loves the OPX but I'm on AT&T so I can't get LTE with it so it can't be a daily driver.

I like to have an Android phone along with my iPhone to play around with.

Sometimes it's nice to switch it up for something different.

For sure. We get pimped on the service end though so buying phones outright makes it cheaper in the end than leasing phones.

What about other 4G LTE bands which ATT supports? I have 4G LTE service in NYC. Are you in a rural area?

SE Michigan so not rural as population is about 5 million.

Band 17 is the primary LTE band for AT&T.

OPX is a good little phone but just the connectivity and camera keep it from being great.

I would imagine if OnePlus had wanted to they could have pushed the specs and really made an awesome phone but then the sales of the Two would have suffered.

What's a Shamu? Nexus 6? If so, I had one last year and it was excellent but the width made it less than comfortable to hold. For media consumption it is one of the best experiences.

Amazon had a flash sale this morning at 3 AM and sold the 32gb for $199 which is an awesome price.

Yeah I saw it last night, told some people about it, but they probably didn't see my comment. 64GB was selling for $260 cheaper then the OPO.

I was up at that time and was ready to pull the trigger but didn't. I'm regretting it now...for $200 it was a steal.
