Since I won't be upgrading to 10, what is the best alternative and also can I remove the alert to upgrade my phone from my notifications?

according to company announcements, there will be a 3 years model support, not over 3 years. If there are OS bugs, i hope there are update only for them

    They won't.
You can shift to a Custom ROM like Lineage OS

I'm on OOS 5.0.4 still and disabled Update app via Package Disabler Pro [Samsung]. If this app requires root you can retrive package name with it and disable updater via ADB

Well, you can click on the notification, and then leave the next screen back to the home screen, and the notification is gone (until the next phone reboot).

NB I just upgraded to 8T, but keep my trusty OP5 as backup.

You need to do your own research to install custom ROM.

You have a better chance to win the lottery than an update from OnePlus.

yes, it's correct. What you miss is that android 10 is "broken" for op5/5t. Consider that v10.0.1 fix some bugs on previous version so there's only 2 ways: keep A9 or update at the latest A10. Anyway, I'm using latest A10 on my op5 since few months and I must admit it works well, no regrets.
