right, that's the issue. releasing an Update which is far behind latest Android security bulletin.

partners, such as OnePlus, get needed security patches at least 4 weeks before the bulletin report goes public (right now they already have the information about security issues mentioned in January 2020 Android security bulletin).

if a OEM cares about security like this, releasing a build with outdated security patch level, it's not a OEM I am going with in future.

and remember the credit card hack in 2018? I was a victim... and what they've learned?
nothing it seems, OS security doesn't seem to really care.

and for you to think about what I said further:
You know when it's time to fix a security hole? once the information about that security hole is public available which is monthly the case as Google tells what's fixed (others can be happy if CVE aren't public before).

security holes are used once they are known, before that the security hole exist but most of the time doesn't harm as it's not used by hackers - how should they if they don't know about it ? ;)

you know how complicated it is to apply Google's patches?

[e]1f602[/e] there's no excuse for not applying them at time.

download the open beta 9 and install it with local upgrade. then download the stable version of Android 9 from one plus site and again install by local update in system update .

well, they've to pay Google for every update as it needs to be signed by Google to be delivered with Google Play store. that's the only thing they can use as excuse but doesn't changes the fact OS Security is always not at a point it should be on a mobile device.

I know some people working as a full time job on Android for mobile devices where I got those background information from. also from my work in the past on custom ROMs for different devices.

I think most of the people not caring are still using Windows XP or older... daylie for baking etc...
