version 10.0.1 comes with a September security patch, but you can update it to October by clicking on the patch and downloading the new one. then restart

The update comes with October patch. Never heard about any possibility to update a security patch by clicking on the patch. If you click on the patch all you get is a link to browser to see latest security patch on Google.
But yes, OnePlus are totaly weird. 10.0.0 had October patch so writing "Security patch updated to October patch" is misleading as there is no update to the patch between 10.0.0 and 10.0.1. The update is only if you come from Pie (and other updates written like new UI for Android Q and Update to Android 10 are also useless here) . A big no, no to OnePlus. Not just this misleading statement, today all new mobiles have December patches already. So we are 2 months behind already :-(

I have updated since android 9, but I have seen that the same thing happened to more people. I do not know the reason but in version 9.0.17 I had the August patch, when I installed the OTA I had the September one and now I have updated it to October, which is already delayed.

OnePlus is providing Software support for 3 years but similarly OnePlus should provide Accessories as well for 3 years at-least. After 9 months only I was struggling to get screen guard and cover.

How did you update it to October ? Pressing on the patch button never updates it. But yes, I got October with the original 10.0.0 already (there were 2 10.0.0 roms so maybe there is the difference).

Ok so it's from "Security & Lock Screen" settings. Weird you had to do that, but good it worked. Still OnePlus is slipping on updates. I bought the 6T 8 months ago and it's already too old to get current security updates (which by the way are not that hard to create) ??

I love that the new update still has that huge space under the keyboard, like if OnePlus never use their own mobiles to see that.... And of course more bugs remain like random black screen when trying to open camera with double click on power button :-(.....

I know, but does it still work on Oxygen OS 10.1 ?

Just let the early birds try the update and then decide, if you really want to upgrade to this version of Android 10 and better stay at OOS9. For me, I keep my patience and wait. Why? Each new major version takes time to polish. Maybe check next month or next 3 months, until satisfaction arrived.
For security: I'd rather flash LineageOS than the current OOS Android 10 version. But just my two cents :)

yes... completely unacceptable that an update that just released didn't include a Google update that released the same day it did.

how do you expect them to implement a software update from Google if they already started rolling out their update before it was available?

The logical thing is that it came with the November patch, not December. What's more, this update came with the September patch and has been updated to Octuber.
