I have a 6T running Oxygen 9.0.14 and am trying to update via the zip file downloaded from the website. When I choose to install the update it says update failed Screenshot_20200915-222829.jpg Screenshot_20200915-222838.jpg Screenshot_20200915-222845.jpg

If you are OnePlus 6T you need to download and install OOS 9.0.17 as this contains files to allow you to update to Android 10.

Download 9.0.17 for OnePlus 6T from link below.
    https://oneplusupdates.com/device/oneplus-6t

After the .zip file is downloaded to your phone, move the file from the folder you downloaded to, to your Main Storage.

Then go to 'Settings' - 'system update', click the 'settings' icon on the top right corner, choose 'Local upgrade', find the .zip file and click on 'Install' to confirm. The update takes about a minute (depending upon the file size), once done reboot your device to boot into the latest Oxygen OS.

Then choose your model of phone in the list in the link below and download and install the Android 10.3.5 file, follow the instructions given on the OnePlus Software Support page, link below.

Thanks I'll try that I didn't know where to find previous releases. Just the current one.

Is there some reason my phone says it's up to date or I never got an OTA update after 9.0.14?

How big a risk is data loss doing these local updates? Should I really back up my data?

You shouldn't lose anything, however you will be doing one update on top of another, so it's always recommended to backup before updating.
