On the Pixel 3XL with A9 the notch hiding was exactly the same, push the icons down and make the notch black, nothing really changed on A10 except that OnePlus decided to be lazy and not put effort in hiding the notch in a proper way like on A9, they chose to use the same crappy way of hiding it like on the pixel by literally robbing you out of real screen estate

This OTA will have a staged rollout. The OTA will be received by a limited number of users today and will have a broader rollout in a few days after making sure there are no critical bugs. Using VPN to download this build might not work as the rollout Is not based on regions and is randomly pushed out to a limited number of devices.

Relax and take a deep breath, we're not going to receive it anytime soon.

    Believe me. You're lucky.

At the point you upgrade to this 10.X, you'll start hating your device for sure...

actually i have downgraded my phone from android 10. tried 2 builds and then went back. 3rd build was 10.0.3.0. didn't bother updating. and now this 10.0.3.1.. same change log from past 3 builds. they say it will fix bugs but it won't. and this quality is called cheating which most payboys don't agree with.

Perhaps you like being complacent, but removing a practical solution to a problem and putting a half assed one on top of it seems rather backwards, execution wise I reckon it wouldn't take much to add it back, but given they didn't even bother including it initially you can tell they didn't care, I suppose nowadays leniency is the name of the game for OnePlus and it's loyal white knights

They didn't implement it initially because it is indeed a "half assed" implementation. Google has been making it harder and harder to implement hide the notch implementation. But because of the outrage caused due to it's removal, they added this. It is not possible to implement it the way it was earlier. With each iteration of Android, the quality of implementation has deteriorated.

just an observation in A10.. it's so dumb to that we have to put the notification to high priority to get the icon to be displayed on notification bar.. on A9 it was fine..

for instance i have a thrid party music player and the icon never appears unless i set the notifications of that app to high priority.. and that's not the worst part, every time I play or pause a song a notification sound is played.. it's so annoying..

am i the only one who is annoyed by this?

While that might be true for the AOSP version, OnePlus is free to modify the code and implement their way of dealing with the notch just as they did with A9, proof of concept is that you can use the settings database editor to enable the old way of hiding the notch, only problem is that it's buggy in some apps including third party ones which is not Google's fault, but OnePlus' for not investing the proper time to fix it

    Anyone have a suggestion?...

I had OP6T_O₂_BETA_33 and just downloaded OnePlus6TOxygetn_32_OTA_042 but cannot install, getting message "Local upgrade The version of your selected package is lower...downgrading is not allowed."
Meantime, my hotspot throughput is still horrendous!
