Like I said, not a heavy user, I do use it consistently, but it's for Social media, such as Whatsapp , Facebook and a few other items and such, I use other devices for heavier stuff like Videos, Music, and I am not a Gamer. But do have both XBox and Ps4 in the house, which others use.

Anyway, phones are designed for casual gaming, casual video and casual music, not XBox style gaming, hence why many others end up with such bad battery. And they do all that very well. Not 24/7 constant entertainment.

Which draining, batteries have to drain, that's the whole point of having a battery. The rate it drains is down to your own personal usage and what you do with the phone.

If the phone won't boot, it's bricked.

I would suggest you start from scratch,go back to Stock and start from there again.

    This will WIPE your phone.

Follow the instructions to use the MSMDownload Tool for Oneplus 6.

    https://www.thecustomdroid.com/oneplus-6-6t-unbrick-guide/

Scroll down to view the Unbrick details and downloads.

Download and use the Android version you want TO use to unbrick the phone with for OP6.

Once you have the phone backup and running.

Install OTA updates to get the most recent update.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

For those installing Android 9 only from the above guide.

You must be on at least Android 9.0.9 in order to update to Android 10.

You can then update to the Latest OOS Full Install update file.

Either via OTA or check Latest release thread posts for update links. Or use 3rd party Oxygen updater from PlayStore.

Again it's down to your personalisation of the phone, you can try and optimise the phone and battery and see how it works out for you. If not then try the second part.

Just in case there is an App hogging resources, causing Heat issues, causing lag, Battery drain or freezing, clear your recent apps, also try setting 3rd party apps to Optimize in Settings Battery, only leave the ones you need run in the background or to notify you such as messages, email, Google Services, oneplus etc on Intelligent control.

Android may take a few days to optimize those apps after setting them to Optimize depending on your usage of those apps. A10 has its own learning curve.

Go through 3 to 4 charge cycles, leave on charge beyond full capacity for a couple of hours. Preferably overnight.

After a few days, Check App battery stats at about 50% and see if there are particular apps using more resources than necessary.

If its still not improving, backup your phone, full factory reset, Delete All Data, as in wipe your phone completely, and repeat the steps above.

This will restore you to a fresh installation of Android. So you will need to backup your phone.

    After Backing up the phone.

    Go to Settings,
    System,
    Reset Options,
    Enable Erase Internal Storage.

Then click on the Delete All Data button.

No update from Oneplus can fix battery drain, if the users are the ones responsible for that drain! The speed at which your battery drains will depend on a number of things such as, your usage, the apps you use, the ambient temperature in your part of the world, if you've calibrated your battery etc.

I'm not suggesting for a second that you're not experiencing the issue. However, the problem is usually down to how the individual uses their device. Updates to obviously play a part in it, but usually a very small part. If it was software related then the vast majority of us would be suffering from this, but that's just not the case.

Try the tips that @Caomhin has posted about battery calibration and optimisation.

edit: beaten to it again 😤

A product company will not shut shop for you or me if we keep complaining. Hopefully you have raised ticket under Support for your phone model. Regarding battery it may depend on your phone usage apps you use games you play and many other tech reasons.

Yes you can move from beta to a newer stable build without data loss. Although you should backup your data first incase. Personally I would format when moving from beta to stable anyway though.
