One more thing to try, is to install a GCam and see if that can use the camera as normal. If it can't then more than likely a hardware issue and you may have to go to an approved OnePlus service center
I have this one installed and it works very well.
    7.3_GCam_MJL_v4.1.1_Minilux.apk (marco, 2020-04-29, oneplus 6/6t, changelog)
The XML are integrated, so no additional files required.

You can also run a Diagnostic with the OnePlus Diagnostic tool. Have used it myself. Though it shows everything fine so far on my 6T.
You can run this tool to check if everything is working as expected by clicking on Detect Now.
Just follow the instructions on the screen.
    Download OnePlus Diagnostic tool.

I have an Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite in family, bought with 150$ new and have new update with security patch and sometimes some improvement's, every months, not like my OnePlus 6 phone, bought with 500$, I get an update every 3 or 4 month... That's shame.

You mean the cable is expensive compare to other cables?
    1602236021568.jpg
From right. Ancient micro USB Samsung orginal. Rated for eh... "crap".
2nd. Modern S20 line Samsung double ended USB-C cable. Rated for QC 2.0 and looks and practically feels the same as the ancient one.
3rd. Standard Warp cable. 5V 6A. Thick and sturdy (almost too sturdy).
4th. Flat Warp cable (the one from the store, more expensive and exclusive than the one that comes with the phone). 5V 6A. More flexible and nicer to handle.
I consider the 4th to belong to the premium cable class. There are even more premium ones ofcourse (kevlar and braided ones for example... But this is the best for Warp)

Force stop of the app. Clear cache and data of the app and then reboot phone. Now it should work.

If its working in the GCam but not in OnePlus Camera, sounds like a possible corruption somewhere between the Camera and Android.

There are 3 different reset options. Try the full Erase option as per the steps below. Make sure you Enable Erase Internal Storage, so you are starting completely fresh.

    Do a Full Factory Reset

This will restore you to a fresh installation of Android. So you will need to backup your phone.

    After Backing up the phone.

    Go to Settings,
    System,
    Reset Options,
    ⚠️Enable Erase Internal Storage⚠️

Then click on the Delete All Data button.

For more info on how to backup your phone, check the solutions here.
