Then you shouldn't expect 7 hours now, SOT will vary between users, who use different apps in different manners, have different ambient temperatures and use different ISPs and different methods to attach to the wider world.

    Yes I do think so.

My 7T always reaches 7-8hrs max SoT consistently. BUT.......

I have observed whenever we go out of town (before the pandemic) which I always turn on mobile data, I only reach 6-7hrs max SoT. After I connected to the hotels WiFi connection, I noticed my device gets a bit heated, thus draining the battery too aggressively. And the battery only reached 4hrs max SoT. So I charged up and made an observation the 2nd time. And as suspected, their WiFi was really killing my battery. So I opted using mobile data instead. Mind you, these all happened while still on Android 10.

We went out of town again just few months ago. My device is now already on Android 11. And yes, it happenned again on same scenarios. Only this time it's much worse and got only almost 4hrs SoT. Do I think it was because of Android 11? No. It was because my device had already aged and so does its battery.

Back at home I'm reaching 6-8hrs max SoT again but mostly just 7+hrs coz again, device aged.

And oh.... I was also using an iPhone X with newly replaced battery along with the 7T. It only reached almost 3hrs max SoT out of town. Back at home it can reach 4-5hrs SoT.

    Cool story, huh?😅

There are lots of possible reasons why we experience battery drains. Mostly coz the antenna aggressively search connections and the system works hard to enforce and do what we tweaked on the device setings.

Some of the reasons were because of an app acting aggressively in the background.

Not really because the device or its battery optimizations being bad.

I am saying this all because of experience. Don't go calling me a fanboy or whatever. I don't love OnePlus but I cannot hate it coz it helped me managed and achieved so many things already for me to hate it. But in reality, I am ready to sell this device to try out something new like the new Pixel lineup. For starters, my main device is now an Xperia 1 ii. Maybe next year I won't be on this community anymore.

    Well said
I agree with you about what could drain the battery, connection or apps in the background.

I am not colling you a fanboy. I had 3 HTC phones prior to this one and the battery experience is not grate. I hawe a Huawei p30 pro and it cant hold a candle to my 7t pro

I know but then I won't able to sell and I don't want to take risk of getting bricked or something..
I can bear to charge it infinite times 😂

Sorry I wasn't saying that you will. It's just to some it will sound like I was being like that. But I agree. EMUI's battery optimization is way better than OnePlus' OxygenOS. I had Mate 10 and regular P30 way back. Both lasts almost 2days on single charge.

Anyone facing this weird black rectangular outline on the bottom of the display , below the in-display fingerprint reader?

This appears when I play a video on full screen or launch a game. Happens only in Landscape Mode.

This issue started post Android 11 update on OnePlus 7T.

Happens 1 out of 20 times when I launch a game or play a video.

Fix is to close the video/ game and launch again .

Yes I've been facing this too. Also a quick fix is change phone orientation back and forth makes it go away, if your auto rotate is turned on.

I'm not sure how owning 3 HTC phones has any relevance to your current SOT?

Why would flashing the EU build have any relevance to whether you can sell your phone? If it where an issue you would simply flash back it's native build surely?

Have you reported this bug to OnePlus? If not, I think you should, so that they acknowledge the bug and fix it in the future update.

A temporary fix is fine for the moment, but we need a permanent solution.

I believe more the number of people report this bug, soon OnePlus may fix it .
