If u can't wait then just download the update manually via oxygen updater app.

That depends on load of the service center in your area / City. While I got in couple of hours now I am trying to get battery replaced for my OP3 and OP5 and they say one week time to return phone.

Charges to be paid is only for labour .

It is a staged rollout, OnePlus 6/t devices will get the ota update randomly in batches so just wait or else use oxygen updater.

The update works well for me. After the first restart the phone was warmer than normal, but this issue disappeared after a while. The battery seems to discharge a bit faster, I'm confident this issue will be solved with a future update.

Firstly, the Oxygen updater app gets the update file directly from the same servers that OnePlus provide the OTA from. So, yes it is safe. Updating via Oxygen updater will not prevent future OTA's from reaching your device either.

Secondly, the support for 6 series devices is due to end imminently, therefore there will not be many more updates for your device anyway.
