This update definitely feels rushed. I installed the stable Oxygen OS 11 (based on Android 11) update and after using it for a few weeks, I could definitely tell that it had issues.

The camera is unusable at times. When opening the app, it never goes past a black screen, even if I close the app and open it again. To make it work, I need to clear the app cache and retry. There are also issues with other apps that use the camera. For example, using Google Translate to scan some text with the camera, will result in blurry images. In fact, there is an issue with the camera's focus in almost every 3rd party app.

Speaking about the camera, very often when opening the app, the screen calibration would change -- it would switch to some sort of "Vibrant mode", with very saturated colors. When exiting the camera app, it would revert back to whatever mode it was in previously but a lot of times it would be stuck in that vibrant mode and I had to restart the phone to reset the display. Changing the screen calibration in the settings app would have no effect.

Auto-rotation is very unreliable, sometimes it doesn't work at all even if I disable and then re-enable it. Never had this issue in Android 10 / oxygen OS 10.

The screen brightness updates very slowly, it's annoying.

Overall, a lot of apps glitch during use, there also seems to be a more aggressive RAM management that kicks processes out of memory more often. I noticed more app reloads when resuming.

I've even had issues with the fingerprint reader where sometimes it just randomly wouldn't work and I had to restart the device.

I did do a factory reset and a clean install of Oxygen OS 11 but I had the same issues. In the end, I reverted back to Oxygen OS 10 / android 10 because there were too many issues with this update. Hope they get sorted because it's a mess.

I think the staged rollout has been paused due to many bugs reported by users as it is more than a month many of us didn't receive the update . usually we start receiving updates within 15-25 days of staged rollout (as observed in past).
Similar happened in past while transitioning to Android 10 , many of didn't receive oxygen os 10 we directly got 10.1

Let's hope whatever they send us as an update does have major bugs fixed and can be used as a daily driver

In their update to the schedule, to be found here

OnePlus haven't specified another schedule for sec. updates.

The 6T is on July's security updates while the updates for September have been out from Google since the beginning of September. So OnePlus missed their promised schedule once again, like almost every time.

And by the way: bi-monthly security updates are basically worthless, because it leaves devices vulnerable to the bugs fixed in the "other month" updates from Google.

The funny thing is that some hobbyists over at Lineage manage to crank out the updates on time and every month for a lot more devices than OnePlus ever produced. This includes most of the OnePlus devices of the past.

some hobbyist at lineage and many more custom roms are able to release security patches sooner because their roms don't have to be submitted for CTS certification which may take weeks before OnePlus can release a stable update.

the 6- series are towards EOL, I wouldn't expect quicker updates.

Google releases the security patches to the manufacturers a full month before they are released to the public, exactly to give manufacturers the time they need to implement and certify the patches. So OnePlus received the September updates on Aug. 1st., for example.

Other manufacturers do publish updates on time, so your point just goes to show one more time that OnePlus doesn't really care for it's customers anymore.
Either OnePlus cares for their customers, then they adhere to the schedule they published themselves. Or they do not, then things are as they are now.

And about expecting something from OnePlus ... I've been let down by OP too often. I don't expect anything from them anymore. I've flashed the two original OnePlus One phones that have been in our household since 2014 with Lineage long ago (we still use them as internet radio receivers and to control some smart home features). They run better with that than with the original software, and receive weekly (!) updates. Same goes for the two OnePlus 5 that my kids are using as their daily rockers. Weekly updates, no more bugs. And for my own phone, I'm just looking for a free time slot where I can migrate it to Lineage, as OxygenOS 11 is buggy as hell & doesn't receive updates, either.

Yes, OP should be working on it to make it as stable as possible and do a second release before they EOL it.
