Yeah, i know both beta and stable share the same build number, which would indicate they are both the same version. But as far as i know it's the first time both of them are the same version, that's why it would be interesting to know what happens if you switch from beta 2 to OOS12, like the user i quoted did. As for updating, I'm on OxygenOS 11 and from the looks of things i'll probably stay there for the time being.

As there isn't any official method announced by OnePlus I just reverted back to stable oos 11 by using the local upgrade apk and the downgrade zip mentioned in open beta 1 thread, it downgardes you to the stable oos 11 version 11.2.8.8 and then you can upgrade to stable oos 12 via ota update or via oxygen updater. As for now going back to stable from beta 2 will erase your data unless OnePlus announces any other method..

In my opinion it's actually worse than oss 11.

What's the difference between doing this and upgrading to ob3 from ob2 since both are the same build?

Ah, okay thanks. I thought you maybe flashed the stable build over beta 2, i'm curious what that would do in terms of wiping data like it used to when you switched channels that way. Not important though, that's just the curiosity in me that takes over.🙂

Yeah, they both seem to be the same version. Without data being wiped?

Both are no different. Oxygen OS 12 is same as Color OS 12.

Actually nothing it's the same as ob3 just leveled as stable same bugs same glitches everything is same ,, I thought that as stable is pushed out it would be better and bug free than beta 3 but nah it's exactly like beta 3 ,, and if you compare it to oss 11 the camera is way worse in oss 12 ,, in my opinion camera is a basic necessitiy in a phone I can't understand how they just pushed a stable update and ruined the camera quality.

I thought stable can't be installed when I am in beta channel ( as it was the case in oos11) that's why I haven't even tried to install the stable version on top of ob3.

I don't know how it is now with the new codebase but on the 7t and 8 series you could flash a full stable build over a beta version as long as that stable build was a higher version. But that did involve wiping all data. I thought that could maybe be different now since both stable and beta 3 have the same build number.

Ah, okay thanks. Doesn't really matter because it would seem there will be no more beta running side by side with the stable channel anymore
