@Helen
These are my initial subjective findings on the OxygenOS 3.0 Camera application. I've not used it extensively as yet, but my initial impressions are overall positive.
1) faster focussing
2) sharper pictures
3) better low light performance
4) faster image processing in HD / HDR modes
The element that causes me the most concern it the UI which has significant room for improvement. It feels like OP have taken taken the simplicity and ease of use of the google camera and complicated it with added options that make it less intuitive and more difficult to use.
I am not a fan of swiping up/down to change from camera to video mode. It is too easy to do this by accident which is a pain for someone like myself who very rarely uses video mode. I don't need it at my fingertips.
Moving HD/HDR mode to top right is not intuitive. Having them "always available" is a reasonable ambition, but I find the top bar to be really ineffectual, the top left menu button to switch operations, turning flash on/off and changing camera modes should all be in settings.
Calling clear image "HD" is confusing as it is too near to "HDR" and is not an abbreviation of "Clear Image", in my opinion it would be better to call it "CLR" mode as it is still referred to as Clear Image in GUI toast messages.
The "No access" symbol when neither HD/HDR mode is selected is confusing, why not just call it AUTO mode ? then you could have AUTO, CLR, HDR modes ?
In selfie mode , the ability to switch Beauty Mode on/off is under settings (which is where I would expect to find it), rather than the top right corner where HD/HDR mode are located. The only issue with this is that on-screen settings are implemented in a row, which has 3 elements in normal operation and 4 in beauty mode. Once again, inconsistent.
Ideally the on-screen settings would be based on a fixed grid, something like 3x3 and would incorporate all in-camera settings, and settings that have multiple values (AUTO,CLR,HD) would cycle when pressed repeatedly. settings that are not available in specific modes would be greyed.
That's my two pennies worth!
Looking forward to the next iteration..
