Hello. We are talking about security updates, which are already half a year old. Not about new features. I don't care about OP's new features, they are useless anyway,

What do you think, Nougat and Marshmallow are safe, where most phones still are on??

As if they get regular updates. Dream on.

    Lol.
so you believe that a security update is offering stability and battery performance?

Then you have no idea of what a security update stands for.

I'm talking about the new features thing. I don't really need them and I think security update is more important as well.

    Lamest argument ever.

Normally i dont complain, and i understand that the manufacturer will not supply updates forever.

But there are 2 different things here.

    1. New versions of android and feature updates.

    2. Security updates

If you compare to microsoft windows, you also need to buy a new version once in a while and as soon as microsoft releases a new version, the old one will not get any feature updates.

But security updates on the other hand, microsoft supplies these for years for older versions.

I dont care about feature updates and i understand that my OP3 will never officially get android 9.

But security updates on the other hand, i would expect longer.

Please remember that the 3T was released on november 20 2016.

This means that until now, the Oneplus 3 has only received updates for 1 year and 1 month after it was superceeded, and many OP3's have been sold as new after that date.

So basically OP has decided that security updates should only be available for less than a year from the last unit was sold from new.

In my opinion anything less than 2-3 years of regular security updates is not good.

Sends a signal to the buyer that OP only expect the phone to last for 1 year.

If it still works after that, it will atleast be dangerous to use due to bugs not being fixed.

Also the 3T is almost identical so updates for both are made at the same time.

Where did they state they're not giving security updates??

The beta versions are on May security patch. If you're so concerned about security, use beta.

What's so important about the latest patches, what happened in Android land you all of a sudden need the latest security patch?

I don't say we don't need them, but I found the majority of people asking for updates are not talking about security updates. If updates take too long, they throw in the security "card" just to put more weight in the scale.

I fully agree. I can't care too much about security update, but IF a new update release if should have the latest security update as well. I haven't upgraded to Android Oreo yet, and therefore I'm still om september 2017 security patch level

Of course it should have the latest patch, I fully agree with that. The thing is all of a sudden, security patches became "so important". We should keep receiving security patches and I hope we will receive them for a certain amount of time.

But at this moment, people just want "security patches" to put more force on OnePlus for getting updates in general than the fact they're worried about their so-called safety.(as if that would work). :)

First, that is an improper language. Second, it is possible that your speaker problem is not oneplus fault. Could be that it got water, it dropped, etc... To check, try a factory reset.

And I say again, that is an improper language. If you use that language, just doesn't use it here.

    How
How do you know? Probably a reset will fix it. But if you don't want to do that...

I fully understand you. Phone on the stable OOS release should not need to go through phone reset to fix software problem. I can see it as a solution for the beta releases. Maximum to clear the cache.
