How do I flash a custom recovery and root it? Every time I flash the recovery after the first reboot it gets replaced with stock recovery.

So don't reboot before you root. There's a guide in the development section of the forum with detailed instructions.

Those bugs are only for a few people. The majority of people who don't have bugs (80% of the users including me) aren't complaining in this thread.

1.) Android 8.1.1 for full PiP support. Netflix while texting is a dream.
2.) Either manual switching between two rear cameras or at least an indication which one was in use. Really wanna know what's going on with that second sensor.
3.) At least give me an option to place the search bar at the bottom. I've been using a Pixel launcher port and it's a game changer for someone who likes to Google stuff on the extra tall display.
4.) A hassle free way of implementing Widewine L3, like going to a service centre. Can't send the only phone I have away for a week or maybe longer.
5.) Regular security patch updates like the new Nokias, because the OCD is killing me and also it's objectively better.
6.) Maybe become a part of the Android One program. This, I know is as far fetched as it gets, but again, look at the new Nokias. I might get my next phone from them if they come up with a Dash Charge replacement. Also I think the camera is better on OP5T vs Nokia 8.
7.) Fix the WhatsApp Stories emoticon bug and some other well documented bugs scattered accross the UI.
8.) Since I live in India and the power button is locked for contacting SOS services through tripple tapping by law, an alternative quick launch for camera would be nice.

I love my phone. I really do. I use it 24x7. It's so fast that you stop noticing it until you pick up a new phone. But there's no reason it couldn't have been better. Most of the things I mentioned are software stuff that doesn't necessarily have to raise costs.
