Maybe you have a bad battery life but @ashu_thakur06 was asking for him. It doesn't necessarily mean that all the users are in the same situation as yours.

Can someone explain to me why I need a vpn for a simple update? Its my first oneplus switching from Huawei so I'd assume updates are standard but why the vpn?

    ngydat, Jun 11, 2019 :
You only need the vpn if you're impatient to have the update

That doesn't make any sense because it says the update is ready, press download and it sits at 0% and does nothing then says something went wrong. So why publish an update if it doesn't work. Smart ***

You do realise that you're not talking to any member of the One Plus staff, don't you ?
Also, I wasn't being sarcastic or rude when I told you
People who want to have the update faster use the VPN because from time to time, updates are deployed region by region.

Also, insulting me won't help your case

I understand that but your first comment felt irrelevant and did not help me at all just by calling me impatient, you should've started with your second comment and explaining it. Perhaps lead with that next time and you might get a better result. Sorry for being so rude :)

If a VPN. doesn't work for you, you can download the incremental files, here:

    ONEPLUS 6

    ONEPLUS 6T

You know how the game works right? Install with the local upgrade and you'll be done.

I appreciate your feedback. My vpn works and I got the update installed easily. But my concern was why I would need a vpn for a simple security update when it's a standard thing on other devices. My Huawei would do it automatically. But when I tried installing the update on my oneplus 6t it was stuck on 0% and just kept coming up sorry something went wrong. But maybe it's a standard thing for I plus models? That I need to switch on a vpn for updates now?

Sorry, I don't know why, I would've been lying to you if I tell you. Maybe updates don't come out globally as soon as it launches, for example where I live, it took 3 days after release without VPN of course.
