    rollercoaster23, Jan 11, 2019 :
Forgive me for asking, but how do I get this hotfix update? my update log shows that I only have the first 9.0 pie update. My buttons are not working now on my 5 and am using various apps to help keep navigating and do not wish to do a hard reset.

is this update of any significant improvement or consequence to what we already have??? Or is it an update for the sake of an update??

My answer was in relation to the boot loop issue only.
I suffered the same problem while trying to update from 5.1.7/8.1.0 to Pie 9.0 on 25th Dec 18.

Hey, after the updates the camera app shutter sound switch does not work. Did anyone else notice that? The shutter sound stays on even if it is turned off in the settings.

    Nothing major really.
Oreo 8.1 / OOS 5.1.7 is an excellent stable update.
One can live happily with it if one is not really bothered with having the latest.

Lol mods retitled the old threads, I guess I'd do the same. It won't help though, impatient, whiny people that don't actually read the threads will keep on whining and complaining "Whaaa!!!! I didn't get the update that was released 5 minutes ago!!", "My battery is draining too fast!", "My screen isn't bright enough anymore!", whaa, whaa, whaaaaaaaaa.

So the phone bricked nightmare is back!
My OP5 got bricked similarly when Pie first rolled out on the 25th Dec.
I've gone thru several OTA's since I bought the phone in June 17 never faced such an issue earlier.
OP needs to clearly focus more on thoroughness rather than speed of updates.

Maybe they should roll the Pie back into the Beta oven for more even baking, clearly more thorough testing is needed. I'd hate to see what happens to the OP3/3T users devices if OP released Pie for them.

Never OnePlus major updates have been so polemical.
The 5/5t upgrade to Android 9 is a real MESS

The blame lies to a large part on OP for doing a shoddy job on the Pie update in a hurry to announce the Xmas 'gift'.
And then being opaque & uncommunicative when problems cropped.
I've never faced the shock of a bricked device ever before while installing an OTA on an unrooted phone which I did on 25th Dec.
Customers have every right to complain about shoddiness of a company; its feed back not 'whines'.
