Problem with updating from 5.0.x without loss of data. And, please don't tell me it cannot be done.

so yes you can, flash the full zip, then immediately flash TWRP again, and then reboot to recovery (not system) , when in recovery the 2nd time, flash root... reboot to system, and you're done.
those are the steps i did and worked fine.

Me too and it is very annoying. Does everyone have this issue? I still have it with 9.0.5 by the way.

What...is it? If you select a color different from blue for battery charging, you can verify that tle led color doesn't change. It works only if you connect the phone to a computer.
    Ciao

Rapid charging or whatever Oneplus calls it nowadays is always blue. There is no way to override this. I am using a 3rd party app to control my led notifications (light manager) and I still get the blue color for rapid charging since forever. It is not a 9.05 bug.

Damn this is just too much now how can such major bug persist for over 5 updates? Right from community beta version every oos update has this bug, and there is absolutely no follow up from the bug hunters they will just ask for logs say thanks and vanish, no updates whether its being worked on or even acknowledged by the rom developers.

Also there is absolutely no way for people with unlocked bootloader to upgrade from Oreo to the latest OOS without losing/wiping their 64/128 Gigabytes of storage unless they have a non encrypted data partition which most of the users don't and in turn lose all their valuable images/docs/files due to decryption key mismatch. All of this is caused just because OnePlus doesn't care to add a warning in their update threads.
