You need to address this question directly to T-Mobile (USA) as they control all the aspects of their own carrier branded, minority variant and adapted firmware and have to certify all their updates prior to release.

could basically copy and paste this answer like 50 times per day soon after any update gets released.

I had a Google pixel before this and the updates always came from Google, not the carrier, so I figured it was the same here, updates come from one plus, not T-Mobile.

Did your Google Pixel have different hardware and OS to the general, global, Google Pixel release? Unfortunately, thanks to T-Mobile (USA), their carrier minority variant has both hardware and software adaptions on their model and therefore any updates pertaining to this have to be certified by them before release from OnePlus. This means that their model will not be on a par with the stock OnePlus global model as regards updates or be eligible for the OnePlus Open Beta releases that are coming.
