All it really does is to allow easy download from Oneplus servers. Unless activating advanced mode and selecting stuff that would not be installed on your device there should not be issues.

It's better you practice patience, there is a good reason why updates are not made available to everyone instantly.

Heating issues like in it warning for overheat or it just feels too warm for you?
The cpu does not even begin to thermal throttle before being around 80°C/176°F

CPU around 50°C during gaming is not abnormal... But the chassi sure gets hot after extended periods of gaming. The phone is after all built to lead the heat away from CPU into the chassi, especially on 7 Pro (how big the differance is vs regular 7 I don't know). If the chassi is not cooled down enough or even heated up due to exterior factors the temperatures can rise even further.
I played PUGB (on 7 Pro... But Pro users complain too) a whole match with the best setting offered right after launching the game. No massive heat issue for me. I played on high quality wifi and had no lags. Some other people in the team lagged pretty bad sometimes but that is their problem or possible the server.
I would not play this game unless being on very good mobile connection (and by that I mean low ping) or on good wifi.

Install CPU Float from play store and monitor CPU, battery temperature while playing your game. You can also monitor the CPU clock speeds as well.
