    Adi_2019 , Jun 9, 2021 :
Open beta for Android 12 is available for all Pixel devices for quite some time now and developer previews of Android 12 based OxygenOS 12 is rolling out for latest flagship OnePlus devices. Several of the mid-tier OnePlus devices, which once were the flagships not too long ago, are receiving stable OxygenOS 11. Amidst all that, three iterations of the OxygenOS 11 have been delivered to the OnePlus 7 series. The first version of OxygenOS 11 broke or affected several basic features of the devices, such as calling, WiFi connectivity, gallery app, haptic feedback, along with the issues of significant battery drain and overheating.

While OnePlus managed to fix some of the issues, it introduced new ones. Many users have resorted to the only option left – go back to last stable build of OxygenOS 10, which worked the best for them. Since, each user has unique preferences and not all the users faced the same set of problems with their devices, the reasons for downgrading from OxygenOS 11 to OxygenOS 10 have also been diverse.

Therefore, gathering information from the users’ complaints/posts in the forum and from personal experience as a OnePlus 7 user, I have listed below the most common reasons for opting to downgrade from latest OxygenOS 11 to last stable OxygenOS 10.

30 Reasons for downgrading back (actually upgrading) to OxygenOS 10.3.8:

    1. Faster boot

    2. Better lock screen and clock

    3. Better display colour calibration

    4. Default display size is optimised

    5. UI is definitely smoother and snappier in OOS 10

    6. Better auto brightness calibration

    7. Stable WiFi connectivity

    8. No game crash or dropped frame rates

    9. Better Haptic feedback

    10. Apps load faster

    11. Sound is louder in OOS 10

    12. No heating at all

    13. Screen recorder records perfectly smooth video

    14. Call screen is better in OOS 10

    15. No delay in call screen display

    16. Easy notification centre

    17. Latest google play system update

    18. Better dark mode

    19. Manual HDR in camera

    20. Panorama mode works

    21. Third party Dolby Atmos works

    22. Gallery app lag and slower ROM behaviour in OOS 11

    23. Better accent colour management under customisation

    24. No more missing icons in settings

    25. Bluetooth auto connects with paired devices

    26. Option to turn Bluetooth "discoverable" on/off

    27. Cleaner arrangement of notifications and playing song on ambient display

    28. Optimised equaliser setting display on screen

    29. Transition animation within some apps (take BHIM app for example in India) is smoother in OOS 10

    30. Fonts: OnePlus Slate vs OnePlus Sans

Honestly, if you aren't installing any sketchy app, you are safe even with two years old security patch. Besides, google is taking care of its 13 major modules in Android for security through Google Play System Update. It's independent of build version of OS. So, it's not really an issue.

Great thread mate... good work!!..OP users needed this type of threads instead of hyping....If op took these problems seriously then it will be good for their future ... otherwise it will be a disaster for them... Oxygen Os is just faded away if they didnt optimise the system well..

Yes. I believe hardware at today is so much capable, only thing we lack is a well optimised software. Software can change user experience dramatically. I hope OEMs will invest more in softwares in future.

There is a temporary solution. If you don't restart the phone very often, then it's good enough.
Simply tap the system updates option under settings and hit back. The notification from notification centre will disappear. If you restart phone with internet off, notification won't appear again. If restarted with internet on, notification will pop up. Then you have to repeat the above step.

Nowadays I felt OP intentionally pushing non optimised software update...lot of users here complaint about battery heating issue... what is end result of this issue..it just spoil battery (hardware)... Even basic functionality like calling (call pop up display delay) is not up to the mark for a flagship of this kind... They released 3 builds already still same issue still exists... staged roll out is the other culprit here (please don't defend it by saying make sure that there is no major bug in software...I really think that what is the use of Beta chanel ?)...so many users here didn't receive the update yet
Nowadays Beta builds are more stable than Stable builds!!!!!

Yes, actually I am also one of those few people who think staged roll-out is badly implemented by OP. There are 3 stages before stable build. If an issue is persistent through all of the three stages and makes its way to the stable build, what's the point of two beta channels and then staged roll-out? It simply points towards the carelessness and ignorance in development of the software. Slower ROM is frustrating users and the brand is luring them to buy their newer models. Those excuses - battery is inbuilt to save space, headphone jack is removed to make space for newer important components - all are plain BS. They are just following Apple's strategy to sell their accessories which again are built to last for a short period only.

Staged roll-out should be completed within weeks not months when the update cycle interval is 2 months. When there are pumpkin size blunders in OS instead of tiny bugs, you know that staged roll-out is BS too.

There is a good chance that it could, but seeing 11 performance, I really wonder what 12 would be like. 🤨

Quickest way: back up photos to Google Photos and upload important documents to Google Drive. App data is saved server-side and only requires redownload and login.
